White House Hits Back at Ex-Bush Adviser
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20040322/ap_on_go_pr_wh/terrorism_adviser&cid=544&ncid=716

<snip>
It said the president told national security adviser Condoleezza Rice (news - web sites) early in his administration he was "'tired of swatting flies' and wanted to go on the offense against al-Qaida, rather than simply waiting to respond."

The point-by-point rebuttal confronts claims by Richard A. Clarke in a new book, "Against All Enemies," that is scathingly critical of administration actions.

Clarke wrote that Rice appeared never to have heard of al-Qaida until she was warned early in 2001 about the terrorist organization and that she "looked skeptical" about his warnings.

"Her facial expression gave me the impression that she had never heard the term before," Clarke said in the book, going on sale Monday.

1. Clueless in the White House
Condi just memorizes the lies that she has to tell on TV. Other than that she is...in Duh ville.

26. Typical trait of a pathological liar
They nod their heads constantly trying to convince you that they are telling the truth. Only works on the gullible.

2. More misinformation.................
"The White House responded that the Bush administration kept Clarke as a holdover from the Clinton era because of its concerns over al-Qaida."

No mention that Clarke worked for Reagan and Bush I as well as Clinton and Boy Blunder. That's all we're going to hear, that he was a holdover from the Clinton Administration. All blame goes to Clinton, it's the Republican ( and seemingly the media) way.

5. Exactly! Who Clarke worked for in the past is unimportant.
The fact is that Clarke was more informed than the rest of the administration combined. To imply now that he was a Clinton operative is weak. He was the one person they should have been listening to.

The incompetence of this administration is not just limited to the chimp. They are stuck in a time warp made up of bits and pieces of the cold war Reagan era and the gulf war Bush era. They see these two era's as the glory days of the republican party. They were so engrossed with trying to bring down Bill Clinton that the world has passed them by.

13. I've said this in other threads, but it bears repeating:
The Bush Administration demoted Clarke, who was the Counter-terrorist Czar under Clinton, from a cabinet position to a staff position. In other words, from the get-go, the Bush Administration stopped listening to him, and instead, put Powell and Rumsfeld in charge. Forget Condi. She's just window-dressing in all this. She's a black woman who was loyal to the Republican cause. The OLD Republican cause. She may have known how to speak Russian and she may have understood Cold War policies, but she, like the other people in Bush's cabinet, were dinosaurs. The amber reference by Clarke was pure genius, because it descibes perfectly the people he was dealing with.

Really though I don't really think there is an ordeal with dinosaurs here, more like a swarm of booty sucking pestilence on the wing

It is interesting for me, that there seems to be a missing component lately of any independent sources backing any of the claims of * and the cabal of squatters. The Corporate Media and presses carry the water for them, and groups that are some how tied them financially gives that undying support, but them little trick nuanced groups now seem to be missing.

3. Lieberman and Biden at it again
...stumping for the fascist regime.

Rebut and dispute are two different things. This administration hasn't rebuted or refuted any of the accusations against it. Rice's statements are devoid of any substantial evidence refuting anything Clarke has said.

7. *Co is weak on defense
and has its hands in the pockets of the defense industry. The snakeoil salesmen want to sell their shiny toys (that don't protect our troops) and engorge themselves on the feast of easy money.

Who profits every time an attack happens? The defense industry and Halliburton (more contracts).

Their tired mantra of the "clenis" rings hollow. If they felt that Clarke was incompetent or superfluous, why did they keep in on the payroll? Where was Cheney's meetings on security for our country? Oh, that's right - there weren't any.

KindaSleazy is a clueless lump - she should be asked why she cannot testify to the 9/11 Commission but is allowed to go on the talkshow circuit to spread her lies.

The media is a lazy lying mass of crap - the exposure of yet another lying "reporter" and the media's statement that they "did not want to appear unpatriotic" is more bullshit that attempts to absolve them from their responsibility of honesty.

That this story is even written is yet another validation of all of the above points.

Stenographers for the Rove political machine are disgusting.

When they start writing stories that say "WH spokepeople say" <fill in the blank here> and the facts do not support this statement, I will know we still have a country.

In the meantime, their "news" is not fit to wipe my ass.

8. The White House obviously fears Clarke's information.
Democrats need to point out that the White House is doing nothing but attacking Clarke.

Democrats also should ask each of the Bush attack dogs:

"Do you honestly believe that Bush alone is blameless for 9/11?"

11. Lyin' Leezza Rice knew about Al Qaeda and OBL because outgoing...
...Clinton officials including Sandy Berger briefed her and others in the NeoCon Junta personally about the threat of terrorism, specifically Al Qaeda and OBL. Those briefings took place during the transition period of December 2000 and early 2001.

Let the NeoCons thrash around on this story as much as they want...they're just digging the hole deeper.

16. Curious...
I thought it was curious how Rice starting pointing out how Clark was "in charge" when several terrorists acts occurred (embassy bombing, Cole, etc). As if, he wasn't effective, so there was no point in listening to him.

Ok, let's give her that.

Why did they keep him? Why didn't they make a change if he was ineffective?

23. On the morning of 9-11, she gave up her chair and let him take over.
I guess she had no faith in his abilities at all then, eh? More BS!!! Many will fall for it and once again MAJOR headlines take away the story. Gotta give em credit for having so much control/knowledge, etc., so as to block the truth. They are good at the propaganda and cutting someone to shreds who had any sliver of respect :/

25. She made an interesting admission on cnn
They are good at propaganda but sooner or later it will catch up to them. She made a statement this morning on cnn in which she said referring to tenet saying "it's not iraq" and that the president then decided to go into Afghanistan. Well there you have it, she slipped by saying Tenet told the president right there Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11, I'm surprised no one picked up on it. After all wasn't that there main defense from the beginning that Iraq and 9/11 was tied together? Amazing

27. The "War on Terror" is the only issue that Bush polls positively on
And it looks like that issue is about to be taken away from him.

Bush has quit talking about victory in Iraq, No Child Left Behind, and the prescription drug bill. Looks like tough sledding ahead for the usurpers of Al Gore's house.

What gets me is how Condi states that the Bush administration was only in power for 8 months before 9/11-What a lame excuse. 8 months of doing nothing to address the terrorist threats in any meaningful way is what caused this attack.

35. But he's "only" been in office for 3 1\2 years! Cut the idiot some slack!
And meanwhile, Clinton was barely in his 3rd month, we got attacked in WTC-1, he rounded up all the perps, they are all either dead or rotting in jail after OPEN AND FAIR trials, with no gutting of the Constitution, no more bureocracy, no extra billions, etc. etc.

So what's her point again?

Guess they were all busy "trashing OUR White House".

Hope Kerry's first action is to replace every single employee of that place and do a thorough "bug" sweep.

Gotta clean the house thoroughly.
