Greyhound bus surrounded in Portsmouth

PORTSMOUTH – Police have surrounded a Greyhound bus on Hanover Street in an apparent hostage standoff or bomb scare.

SWAT teams are being called to the scene, the hood on the bus is raised and early reports from the scene indicate a suspicious device was found on the bus.

Market, High and Hanover streets have all been closed in vicinity of the bus, which was traveling between Bangor, Maine, and New York City.

More as the story unfolds.

Note: The above was the entire story as of 12:23

Per TV reports the route of the bus was Bangor, ME to NY and a man was threatening passengers with a bomb; and the area around the bus has been evacuated. I am not sure if anyone knows yet if the bomb is real or not.

3. No fly zone
The FAA also instituted a 3-mile no-fly zone around the area. Not sure if hostages are involved!

I can't believe the the major websites and cable news is not covering this story!
What's up with that?
-------------------------------

Update:
One passenger remains on Greyhound bus in Portsmouth, NH. A police robot is now taking a peak in through the door.

Also,

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. – Authorities remain in a standoff with a man on a Maine-to-New York Greyhound bus hours after a passenger called 911 to report an explosive device on board.

The other 16 passengers and the driver safely got off the bus, which was parked in downtown Portsmouth, N.H., at 11:30 a.m. Thursday.

At least two sharpshooters and a bomb squad have been keeping careful watch. One sharpshooter in an armored vehicle moved close to the bus.

6. Are we scared in this country, or are we petrified?
The story has been carried non-stop on the Manchester NH TV station WMUR, Law enforcement has deployed 3 robots, they've apparently had pictures (or video) from one of the bots, they are in communication with the one 'passenger' still on the bus, and I can't help but think "Where's Bruce Willis when you need him?
Honestly, this borders on ridiculous.
What happened to tear gas? Stun grenades? A SWAT team with balls?

7. Nothing on the front pages of CNN or MSNBC, nothing on cable TV, strange!
If the bus was in NY City it would probably be on all TV stations non-stop!

10. Nah. Not even then would it get covered.
It has to do with a bus, not a car or a plane. Nobody cares what happens to buses--at least not outside the immediate geographic area.

Bus passengers are considered unimportant, unless it's a busful of kids or athletes. Then people care. A Greyhound...nobody cares. But a car or a plane...oooh!!!!

9. UPDATE: Man Walks Out Of Bus In Portsmouth Standoff
from WMUR:

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. -- A man has emerged from a bus that has been the center of a standoff in Portsmouth for nine hours.

...snip...

Police continued to surround a bus that was stopped in Portsmouth on Thursday after a report of a suspicious device on board.

Officials said they were communicating by cell phone with a man still on board the bus. Three robots were also positioned near the bus. One of the robots was being used to try to get a look inside the vehicle, while another can test the air for explosives.

The Greyhound bus was making a scheduled stop in Portsmouth as it was traveling from Bangor, Maine, to New York. Police said that a passenger at about 11:15 a.m. reported something suspicious to the driver, who then got off the bus and called police.
