Democratic ad hammers GOP on oil spill
Source: Associated Press

WASHINGTON — The Democratic National Committee has unveiled a new television ad that calls Republicans oil company loyalists who would rather apologize to BP than hold it accountable for the massive spill in the Gulf.

The 30-second ad started running Monday on national and Washington cable stations. It includes a clip of Republican Rep. Joe Barton of Texas apologizing to BP for what he called a $20 billion "shakedown." Company executives had met with President Barack Obama and agreed to a compensation fund for those affected by the spill.

Barton later took back the apology and GOP leaders have distanced themselves from it, but Democrats have tried to paint Republicans as beholden to the industry.

A lot of DUers were asking why Democrats don't start running ads calling Republicans out on their systematic opposition to efforts to hold oil companies accountable. Well, ask and you shall receive.

3. KEEP ON HAMMERING
We're getting our asses kicked in the polls. Maybe some fickle members of the public need this as a constant reminder of the alternative in our two-party system. If I had any money I'd buy a giant billboard off an oil soaked beach and put his stupid face right on it

4. Democrats broaden attacks over Joe Barton's apology to BP
Source: Dallas Morning News

WASHINGTON – Democrats are broadening their attacks over Rep. Joe Barton's much-maligned – and retracted – apology to the chief executive of BP , arguing that he represents fellow Republican lawmakers on the issue.

A new national ad from the Democratic Party titled "Stop Apologizing" began airing Monday. And the House Democrats' campaign arm began targeting more than 30 colleagues who have received campaign donations from the Arlington Republican.

The strategy echoed the charge levied by White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel this weekend that Barton's expression of sympathy for the oil giant reminded voters "how the Republicans would govern."

Emanuel said on ABC's This Week that Barton's remarks, a transcript of which was released by the Republican office of the House Energy and Commerce committee soon after Barton spoke at a hearing Thursday morning, were premeditated.

5. Not bad. But you know what would be really good...
... is if they'd kick a few bucks at Timbaland?

There's quite a lot that could be done with the song (Too Late To) Apologize. :)

6. Once again, the story reads like it was written off Newt's Weasel Words Manual
Democrats "attack".

It's all a strategy.

This article, as is so many in the Corporate M$M, a RW PR Man's wet dream in terms of language and framing.

Republicans don't "attack" and their outrage is not a strategy, at least according to the RW Lie Machine which has fused with the Corporate M$M.

7. "Fellow Republican lawmakers" immediately demanded Barton's apology.
However, it was the lamest apology I've ever experienced--and that's going some.
