J&J sales plunge as new drug recall announced
Source: AP

RENTON, N.J. (AP) -- Sales of Johnson & Johnson pain relievers are collapsing as a string of recalls appears to have made consumers wary of once-sterling brands such as Tylenol and Benadryl.

An eighth recall, announced Thursday, could worsen consumer reaction. That wariness and the huge amount of products pulled off store shelves together look to be costing J&J tens of millions of dollars a month.

Thursday's recall by Johnson & Johnson's McNeil consumer health care unit covers 21 lots of products, including Children's Tylenol. Those were recalled because of a musty or moldy smell, extending a large Jan. 15 recall tied to a nauseating chemical on shipping pallets.

The company said the new lots were added to the recall as a precaution after an internal review found those lots, shipped and stored before Jan. 15, had been on the same type of wooden pallets.

Another article said: All lots involved in the recall were produced before the January 15, 2010 recall, after which McNeil stopped accepting shipments of materials from its suppliers on that type of pallet.

They might have stopped accepting shipments of that type of pallet, but guess it would hurt profits too much to throw out all the pallets it previously had on hand.

The FDA's statement on this: "We do not see any serious health risk to the public from this additional recall"

Don't worry, no J&J execs were fired or harmed in any way in the process.

1. Something's been going on with J&J for a long, long time --
other than greed, it seems --

And wherever their greed has led them it seems to have opened the door

for competition to their products --

Could the bandaids get any smaller or harder to use? Maybe it's just me?

LOVE THIS . . . !!!

Don't worry, no J&J execs were fired or harmed in any way in the process.

2. True, according to our top notch FDA, J&J has been just downright dirty since at least 2003
http://www.fiercepharmamanufacturing.com/story/j-j-expects-plant-fixes-take-all-year/2010-06-29

According to an FDA inspection report, those problems were significant--contaminated ingredients, inadequate quality control, dirty facilities and so on. And this inspection report wasn't the first to take issue with the facility's operations. CNN Money is reporting that the plant repeatedly drew FDA attention beginning as far back as 2003.

---

If the lackadaisical FDA thinks J&J sucks, things must really be serious.

Also, agree with you on bandaid size, what's up with that? It is not as if cuts come in smaller sizes these days.
