Authorities: NJ parking garage partially collapses
(AP) – 8 minutes ago
HACKENSACK, N.J. — Authorities say a three-level parking garage partially collapsed in northern New Jersey when an overhang fell on it.

Hackensack Fire Capt. Thomas Salsedo says officials are on the scene trying to assess the damage and whether anyone was hurt in the collapse Friday morning. Emergency officials are looking into reports that two people may be missing.

The garage serves an adjacent high-rise condominium tower.

Building resident Chris Baldo tells local television station News 12 that he was in his first-floor unit when he heard "rumbling that sounded like an earthquake or a plane, like something hit the building." He says he looked over his shoulder and saw the collapse.

2. I wonder....
if this morning's earthquake could have something to do with this?

"Video reports from the scene shows the front metal and glass canopy that covered the driveway and entrance collapsed and pulled away from the 18-story structure,"

6. Thanks -- was just reading about that . . . I try to stay away from parking decks!!
We have a mall here in NJ -- Short Hills -- and a big Bloomingdales there --

back about 15 years or so they extended their ground level parking -- and about

one - quarter of it was buckling -- and finally went down!!

That's at ground level !!

You have to question all work that has been done since right wing took over, IMO.

8. 3.6 centered in Gaithersburg
I was fast asleep but definitely felt a "disturbance in the Force". My husband, who was awake, thought it was a major sonic boom. And my daughter thought a tree fell on the house.

3. A couple weeks ago the facade of a parking structure (13 tons)
fell off and landed on a kid going to Summerfest in Milwaukee. Exploded him.

The facade attachment had been done not according to the design years ago when it was made.

Very sad.
