Boucher Loses in VA-9

By ANDREW RESTUCCIA 11/2/10 8:39 PM

Rep. Rick Boucher (D-Va.) has lost his re-election bid tonight to Republican opponent Morgan Griffith, the Associated Press says. Though Boucher had an early lead in the race, recent polls showed the race to be tight.

Boucher may very well be one of the first Democrats to lose a seat, in part, because of his vote for cap-and-trade. Virginia’s 9th district is quite conservative and Boucher’s vote for the bill was an unpopular one.

4. We'll miss Rick
I just told my wife she'd have to break in a new congressman, she's writing a 970k grant now that Rick will be part of. However, next year she'll be working with griffith.

She said "well at least I was respectful when I met him." LOL

5. Recently moved to the 9th and cast my first-ever vote for Boucher this morning.
He was a pretty big DINO, but I had been hearing that he was one of the few here in VA who were projected to squeak out a win. I moved out of Perriellos' district so, I've had a Democratic rep for only two out of the last 15 years. :(
