That's exactly what I wrote in my voter guide.

7. All the ads had to say was
"sponsored by Texas oil companies" and that pretty much stopped it in it's tracks. (Californians and Texas have not been, historically, the best of friends.)

8. California rejects climate law challenge

A California ballot measure that sought to suspend the state's landmark global warming law failed at the polls on Tuesday, marking a big victory for environmentalists and the growing alternative energy sector.

With more than a quarter of precincts reporting, the "no" vote on Proposition 23 stood at 59 percent, with 41 percent in the "yes" column.

The measure, largely funded by oil companies, would have put on hold California's efforts to step up use of renewable energy sources and create a market for rights to trade greenhouse gases.

After the failure of federal climate legislation this year, the fate of California's 2006 AB 32 law was viewed as a U.S. turning point -- either away from addressing global warming or toward stronger action to curb greenhouse gases.

14. We dodged a bunch of bullets tonight. And I bet part of it
is because Debra Bowen has quietly cleaned up our elections a great deal. L.A. County and I think Riverside are still a mess but nowhere near where they were headed with the Republican vapor vote peddler that we voted out.

16. We also rejected Prop. 27, which was a similarly dirty trick
Designed to repeal something we voted in two years earlier, before it even took effect. (27 would have repealed the citizens' redistricting commission for state legislative offices that was created by Proposition 11 in 2008.)
