White House says deal achievable on tax cuts
Source: Reuters

Reuters) - The White House said on Wednesday that a deal is achievable in the talks among senior administration officials and lawmakers on renewing the Bush-era tax cuts.

"We're in the midst of productive discussions and negotiations around what I think everybody agrees is an issue that has to get done in taxes," said White House spokesman Robert Gibbs. "I think we can get some substantive agreements."

With Obama, that means taxes will be returned to pre-Bush levels for lower and middle income earners and they will remain lowered for earners above $250,000.

Tax cuts for 95% of the people IS compromise. If they want tax cuts for all, we should say we will give you MOST of what you want, deal with it.
