Elizabeth Warren Recruits Dodd-Frank Enforcers From 50 States
Source: Bloomberg

Dec. 2 (Bloomberg) -- Elizabeth Warren, the Harvard University law professor deputized by President Obama to police consumer finance, is recruiting 50 state prosecutors to help. She may even decide to bankroll their work.

“The state attorneys general are natural partners for the consumer agency,” Warren, 61, said in an interview. “There are regulators in Washington that used to prevent state attorneys general from protecting consumers.”

The attorneys general say they are now invited to the nation’s capital and talk with Warren by telephone almost weekly as she sets up the Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection. On Nov. 30, Warren traveled to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, to plot strategy at the prosecutors’ winter meeting.

Bernard Nash, a law partner at Dickstein Shapiro LLP in Washington, said Warren’s alliance with state prosecutors will strengthen both her hand and theirs. It will also antagonize banks, who opposed the creation of the consumer bureau.

1. Who is smarter or better than Elizabeth Warren?
Nobody.

Wonder how long they'll let her work until they fire her for actually doing her job.

4. Agreed....She's the best..
When you wonder when "they" will fire her, do you mean the repuke controlled House?

I hope that, even if they try, they FAIL..Big time.

5. I mean somebody in the government. They will keep after it until they
get it done. Real regulation is not desired by any of the recipients of corporate money in Washington. Until then, though, I intend to enjoy the show!

6. Oh, please don't be pessimistic!....Hopefully, a grass roots effort like
the one which, arguably, got her in, will prevail in keeping her!

9. Hope so. Love to believe it. But in 58 years of living, little to support
it.

Hope does spring eternal.

17. We didn't get her in. If we had that kind of juice, we'd have a public option, if not single payer.

To the WH, liberals and "the professional left" are only the fucking rertards who must be on drugs. We are not determining WH hiring policies or anything else.

11. I agree MineralMan and I hope he appoints her to the job on a permanent basis.
I don't believe he could make a better choice.

13. Assuming she wants that job, I hope so, too.
In the meantime, what she's doing is terrific.

12. Impossible, Obama Would Never Allow Something Like This
Because we all know what a corporate whore he is. So this must not be true. Right?

15. You do realize that she's NOT been appointed as
director of the new Consumer Protection Bureau...

'cause she can't get confirmed...

She's a "contractor" to the White House hired to "setup the bureau"...

She may be able to install some civil servants who will be good for "consumers" (I hate that fucking word!)...

But she will never be the director...even though she should be...

16. Good Point. President Obama is taking a lot of heat because of inaction by Party of NO
Unfortunately because Senate rules allow 42 to be greater than 58 President Obama has no choice but to accept many less than desireable compromises, and take heat when his appointees can't get confirmed.
