FBI plant banned by mosque – because he was too extreme
By Guy Adams in Los Angeles
Tuesday, 7 December 2010

The spying game wasn't all it was cracked up to be for Craig Monteilh, a convicted criminal recruited by the FBI to investigate the march of radical Islam into Southern California. His endless talk of violent "jihad" so alarmed worshippers at the local mosque, that they took out a restraining order against him.

Monteilh spent 15 months pretending to be Farouk al-Aziz, a French Syrian in search of his religious roots. He prayed five times a day at the Islamic Centre in Irvine, Orange County, wearing white robes with a camera hidden in one of its buttons, and carried a set of car keys that contained a secret listening device.

The enthusiastic attempt to catch local Muslims discussing terror campaigns backfired, however, when community leaders went to the police with fears that the suddenly devout young man, who got up to pray at 4am, had become a radical in their midst.

The terror case Monteilh had been helping build against Ahmadullah Niazi, the brother-in-law of Osama bin Laden's bodyguard, collapsed in September, when the bungling informant revealed that his FBI handlers had instructed him to entrap his potential target and told him that "Islam is a threat to our national security".

FBI informant scares Muslim suspects so much with his talk of violent jihad that they report HIM to authorities

Informant: FBI operative Craig Monteilh was sent to spy on Muslims
but was thrown out and reported to his handlers for extremist behavior

An FBI informer sent to infiltrate a California mosque was made the subject of a restraining order after scaring Muslim worshippers with demands for holy war.

Craig Monteilh was known to members of the Irvine Islamic Center as Farouk al-Aziz, an apparently devout and at times over-zealous Muslim.

Now the FBI is facing criticism for its use of such stooges which have backfired in a number of cases.

But when he began speaking of jihad and plans to blow up buildings, senior figures at the mosque reported him the FBI - the very people who sent him.

25. The irony is priceless.
I think I'll call my local bureau tomorrow and ask them if this is the Fumbling Bureau of Idiots. Naw, I guess I won't. Yeah, I will, I pay their salaries. But, then they'll recruit my Avon lady to put a bug in my mineral cream foundation and listen to me nag my husband all day and give away his problems with bowel irregularity.

10. America's war on terror decoded.
Take radical 18-19 year old misfits into the Armed Forces, train them to hate muslims, give them high powered weapons and let them kill who ever shows up on the streets of Iraq and in the hills of Afghanistan. Send out stooges to find radical 18-19 year old misfits and train them to hate Americans, give them high explosives and the cell phones to set them off then stop them just in time to show the great progress we are making in the "War on Terror." Meanwhile, scare the shit out of everyone who flies with an airline across the nation by walking them thru the detectors and the pat downs to convince them there really is a danger....that is, more of a danger than getting hit by lightening.

Just find the craziest, most violent mother fucker in the room and chances are strong that's that your man.
His basic job was to give the FBI an excuse to come after you.

I'm not surprised that this kind of COINTELPRO shit is still going on.

19. COINTELPRO is more common than most think it is.
Of course, most law "enforcement" thugs (with Palin's IQ) are not smart enough to truly fit in with the crowd they are trying to infiltrate.

15. It's hard work, maintaining the hyped terror
People naturally get habituated to hype, so the state has to push the envelope to ludicrous extremes. This is a good example. Same with the airport frisking and human x-ray machines.

27. When I read stories like this...
I get the impression that the FBI and some of it's agents are dropped from the sky, have no frame of reference to reality and look like complete dumb-asses with no life experience at all.

FBI should be FTT - Fallen off Turnip Truck.
