Exclusive: Palin Under Cyber-Attack from Wikileaks Supporters in 'Operation Payback'
December 08, 2010 5:12 PM

The website and personal credit card information of former Gov. Sarah Palin were cyber-attacked today by Wikileaks supporters, the 2008 GOP vice presidential candidate tells ABC News in an email.

Hackers in London apparently affiliated with “Operation Payback” – a group of supporters of Julian Assange and Wikileaks – have tried to shut down SarahPac and have disrupted Sarah and Todd Palin’s personal credit card accounts.

“No wonder others are keeping silent about Assange's antics,” Palin emailed. “This is what happens when you exercise the First Amendment and speak against his sick, un-American espionage efforts.”

Palin has criticized Wikileaks founder Assange, writing on Facebook that his “past posting of classified documents revealed the identity of more than 100 Afghan sources to the Taliban. Why was he not pursued with the same urgency we pursue al-Qaeda and Taliban leaders?...Assange is not a 'journalist' any more than the 'editor' of al-Qaeda's new English-language magazine Inspire is a 'journalist.’ He is an anti-American operative with blood on his hands."

45. Wikileaks hacked Sarah Palin's account TWO YEARS AGO.
Folks, we're ON THE INTERNET HERE. You can look this stuff up, I promise you.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/deadlineusa/2008/sep/17/uselections2008.sarahpalin

Wikileaks, the online clearinghouse of classified information that has caught the Guantanamo Bay prison, Northern Rock, and a major Swiss bank in its crosshairs, has posted hacked data from Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin's private e-mail account.

The alleged hack was pulled off by "loosely affiliated" members of an anti-Scientology group, according to Wikileaks, which justified its move by citing Palin's reported use of yahoo.com to conduct official state business. (Aides to George Bush came under fire for similar e-mailing behaviour last year.)

The hack uncovered family photos and the addresses of Palin friends -- of questionable relevance to any public records violation, really -- as well as what looks like proof that Palin was indeed using personal e-mail for state business.

Addresses of Palin's friends? Larry Womack of Huffington Post said WikiLeaks didn't bother to redact personal information.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/larry-womack/wikileaks-splits-the-blog_b_791963.html

When given the contents of Sarah Palin's private email account, a responsible journalist would have detailed the work-related emails that had been sent via that account in violation of the law. WikiLeaks posted full screenshots of personal emails from within the account, including email addresses of Palin's friends and family. (It's worth noting that the hacker himself reported finding "nothing incriminating, nothing that would derail her campaign as I hoped.") WikiLeaks showed itself capable of protecting at least some sensitive information... by concealing the identity of the hacker.

47. DFab420,
I dont think it is B.S. The half governor from Alaska waded into this controversy as she does many controversies she knows nothing about which is pretty much all controversies and came down decidedly on the side of those who think Assange should be shut up. I'm guessing that irritated the hackers.

14. It was brought down for like 30 minutes last night, I believe
There was a website I saw today that listed everything brought down in the last 24 hours and her's was on there but, like I said, according to that list it was only 30 minutes. I guess once she saw VISA and MC getting the spotlight today she decided to jump into it herself.

And damn if I cannot find the website I was at when I read it...

opportunity and did even less with the opportunity... how
about "reality show baby seal clubber and young stag

Actually, Sarah, the government has spent more time and effort on Assange than it has on al Qaeda and the Taliban. He's a much easier target.
