Canada (secretly) negotiating perimeter security deal with U.S.
Source: The Globe and Mail

Stephen Harper’s Conservatives are negotiating a perimeter security agreement with the United States – a deal designed to ensure the vital trade flow between Canada and its largest trading partner is not choked off by the aggressive U.S. security bureaucracy.

“We intend to work together to defend and protect the land, maritime, air and cyberspace domains of both the United States and Canada and to enhance the security of our integrated transportation and communication networks,” says a draft version of a declaration on a possible deal obtained by The Globe and Mail.

... The deal could trigger concerns over privacy and sharing of information with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, but the statement says a deal would respect sovereignty, privacy and civil liberties.

... Liberal transport critic John McCallum said he’s surprised the Harper government has been engaged in such a potentially big trade and security deal with the United States without informing Canadians or discussing it in advance with Parliament.

He said his party is concerned a deal could impinge on Canadian sovereignty, including refugee and immigration policy. “If someone is inadmissible to the U.S., does this mean they’re not allowed in Canada either?”

3. Harper is the most secretive, sneaky, arrogant politician I can remember.
'Respecting sovereignty, privacy and civil liberties' will be an absolute joke, Harper laughs at such things himself. Time to go, Stevie, you've screwed us enough.

Canada is as fucked as we are. We're living in the early stages of a police state. I wish I could get the hell out of here.

5. Yeah ...... and it comes right after this:
http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/politics/second-reading/spector-vision/wikileakss-mad-attack-on-canada/article1826060/

But WikiLeaks said that the document, approved by Hillary Clinton, provided further evidence that the U.S. Administration was hoarding sensitive information on countries without their knowledge….

We're not fucked yet ......... but we will be if we don't move to stop this crap now. No offense to anyone here, but this is not what I expect from a neighbour.

I despise Harper and his cons right now with every fibre of my being.

7. You're so right.
We should only hoard sensitive information about other countries *with* their knowledge.

Or simply discard any sensitive information as utterly meaningless and not relevant in conducting diplomacy.

(I wonder how this would work with union/corporation negotiations. The union takes the high road and refuses to collect any sensitive or embarrassing information about the company, makes all of its negotiating positions and rationales public by having minions scurrying about reproducing and distributing notes and videos from the actual negotiations as well as from strategy-planning sessions. They all essentially consent to wear radio transmitters. It might be interesting. It might constitute grounds for establishing diminished capacity pursuant to removal of the union negotiators.)

8. No doubt at all it is a orchestrated global right wing movement.
They are ALL doing the same thing: cutting social services, supporting invasion of privacy, illegal searches,
spying on citizens, supporting the banskters, flushing the economy and jobs.
