Sepp Blatter says gays should refrain from sex during 2022 World Cup in Qatar
Source: Sydney Morning Herald

Football fans will have to adjust to more than just the sweltering desert heat when the 2022 World Cup event goes to the Middle East.

FIFA President Sepp Blatter says gay supporters should not have sex in Qatar, with homosexuality banned in the Gulf State.

Asked whether gays and lesbians should worry about attending the tournament because of the Middle Eastern country's hostile attitude towards homosexuality, Blatter quipped: "They should refrain from any sexual activities."

But Blatter hopes there will be an "opening" of the Islamic culture for World Cup.

5. In all fairness...
...Qatar is a more modern city than most in the ME.

I have traveled there several times for business and it has been wonderful.

The real enemy is, and always was, fundamental Islamic law. You will find this attitude in all Islamic republics. I would say 'fuck islam' but that is against rules - I would also say 'fuck christianity' but again...rules.

are married to each other. Is Blatter going to advise straight non-married couples to abstain from any sexual activities too? Those players are going to be might unhappy methinks.

4. On the bright side
everyone has more than eleven years to figure out how to go without (gay) sex then.

It's actually somewhat hilarious that someone is posting a warning eleven freaking years out! On the other hand, some of those countries in that part of the world really are serious about how much they hate the gay.

6. How about everyone I MEAN EVERYONE
who supports gay rights boycotts that world cup, show that if you are going to give it to countries that really don't deserve it because of various reason, your not going to make money off it?

7. I think it would be prudent to obey the laws of any country you reside in.
If I were gay, and was to visit Qatar... I'd probably keep my noodle in my pants.

I think the bigger question is why have the world cup there?
Must be a lot of money.

17. I was relieved to find out
that it was only IN Qatar, and then, only while visiting for the World Cup.

I'm all for protesting, but going without sex for the entire year in 2022 is a bit much. Being as I won't be traveling to Qatar, I plan to be as sexually active as a 56 year old gay man can be during that year :)

12. After the Chruch the sporting world is the most hypocritical,
closeted field. And this is the sort of hate they add to the world. This Baltter is just a phony. I'd not visit Qatar for all the money in the world. That whole 12th Century world can do without my physical presence.

WTF kind of sporting event is that??!!

Personally, I think all consenting adults, regardless of orientation, should have more sex, but that's just me.

20. Nothing that a little Sharia Law won't fix
Qatar should go ahead and recruit a few thousand seasoned Sharia enforcers from our own state of Oklahoma, where suffering Sooner folk have been putting up a brave front against all manner of Muslim oppression.

21. Mr. Blatter has a wrecked view of personal boundaries, doesn't he?
He should refrain from telling people how they should conduct themselves 12 years from now.

Doesn't he know that then, even as now, EVERYONE will be looking for a way to get HIM alone?

26. They'll be working on bringing in some young African talent
for big money. Get em young before they've been capped by their own nations, quickie-citizenship proceedings, and get them playing on some of the European club sides owned by the oil barons.

Probably won't work, but I can just about guarantee this is the plan.

23. FIFA, the Olympics, etc., should not grant location to places that discriminate against anyone
period. You would think we would have learned our lesson from the Berlin Olympics of 1936 that had those dreadful Juden und hunden verboten (Jews and Dogs forbidden) signs.

I don't know if such a country exists.

32. I thought about this post on my commute home last night
Perhaps a better solution would be, for one week prior to one week afterwards, all discriminatory policies must be suspended nationwide.

24. Sepp Blatter is a corrupt bastard that has totally wrecked FIFA and made it into a cesspool

His presidency as President of FIFA is about as legitimate as Georgie's 2 terms. There were several Florida's and Ohio's in that vote too.

I won't shed a tear when this freak finally breaths his last breath. What he has done with his organization in the Third World is just plain disgusting. This guy has it coming. I once saw him, almost made me puke. The Berlusconi of soccer-.-.

25. Berlusconi is the Berlusconi of soccer, actually.
He has his nasty little corrupt hands all over Italian football, and he's further poisoned an already toxic system.

Blatter has made international football as corrupt as the worst club football is.
