Bachmann snub angers tea party leader
Source: Washington Post

Jenny Beth Martin, a co-founder of the Tea Party Patriots, said Wednesday that Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) should have gotten a spot on the House Ways and Means Committee from Speaker-in-waiting John Boehner (Ohio). "She's a former tax lawyer," Martin told Politico. "I think she has the background necessary to be on Ways and Means. I think it shows leadership doesn't particularly support her."

Martin also scolded Boehner for not placing tea party-recommended lawmakers atop the Energy and Commerce and Appropriations committees. Rep. Hal Rogers (R-Ky.) was tapped to lead Energy and Commerce, while Rep. Fred Upton (R-Mich.) was given the top spot on Appropriations.

National Republican Campaign Committee chairman Rep. Pete Sessions (Tex.) defended the pick, saying, "Michele is a real star for our party. ... She has all the necessary qualities. And in the process of bringing in freshmen and other things, it just simply did not happen."

Bachmann has also been passed over for a leadership position this year. In November, she launched an ultimately failed bid for Republican conference chairman. She was defeated by Rep. Jeb Hensarling (Tex.).

1. Whatd'ya expect from an asshole Republican
who doesn't listen to the people?

Psst - the left DOES listen to the people, but we need to purge the blue dogs and the DINOs from our party and go hard left/left and stay there permanently. This will help the country in many ways no-one will ever dream.

8. I've sent many emails to the Obama White House
on everything from opposing Geithner the Wall St. tax cheat , to a need to hold Wall Street accountable, to a public option, to eliminating tax cuts for the rich, and they all went in one ear and out the other.

I agree that USA really needs a hard left put people above corporations policy but it doesn't happen because the Democratic Party gets too much of its money from Wall st.

Their whole purpose was to leverage anger in favor of the Republican party and then disappear. Did they actually think otherwise?

She was in a "tax tourney" as in tournament. They had a competition on who could call Obama a socialist within 30 seconds the largest number of times.

NO WAY the good ol' boys in the Repug club are gonna let a crazy dame near any real power!

Get real!

This is one reason why Palin will never be Prez. Besides she doesn't play along like Dubya did.

Even if it takes a small plane accident.....

15. qualified?
The only subcommittee Bachmann is qualified to sit on is the "SETI Subcomittee", since if they find something out there, she'll be able to communicate with it because she is not of this world.

23. I can here her response after we hear of communication with people from another world.
Mom? Dad? Is that you? What makes this extremely unlikely is that people from another world would likely be of higher intelligence.

25. Yeah. What is the Matter with the GOPea? Michelle is A Tax Expert, after all
Edited on Thu Dec-16-10 03:25 PM by eringer
Just read the legislation she just introduced yesterday:

Bachmann Introduces Legislation to End Tax Uncertainty

Washington, Dec 15 - Today Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (MN-06), a former federal tax attorney, introduced legislation to make the current individual income tax rates permanent and stop the massive tax increase that will affect all taxpayers on January 1. Congresswoman Bachmann released the following statement upon introducing the End Tax Uncertainty Act of 2010 (H.R. 6522):

“Instead of providing economic certainty, Congress has been playing politics with the money that belongs in the pockets of hardworking Americans. In mere days, tax hikes will affect all earners unless Congress acts, but President Obama is insistent upon pairing a tax vote with unfunded spending.

“As a small business owner, I know job creators are hesitant to hire more employees without knowing 2011’s tax tables. Washington’s era of uncertainty has existed too long and is simply unjustified. I seek to bring certainty to job creators and American families through the End Tax Uncertainty Act of 2010.

“I am disheartened that President Obama is pushing for a so-called compromise which will only add to our deficit. Now is the opportunity for Congress to lower its deficit while helping job creators, which my bill will do. As the compromise currently stands, I cannot support it,” stated Bachmann.

Bachmann’s legislation also repeals the death tax and gift tax, prevents tax increases on the maximum tax rate for capital gains and dividends income for all Americans, permanently patches the Alternative Minimum Tax and reduces the corporate tax rate to twenty-five percent.

THIS PLOY GIVES HER THE COVER TO VOTE AGAINST THE COMPROMISE TO APPEASE THE TEA PARTY'S "NO COMPROMISE WITH OBAMA" PHILOSOPHY. THE GOPea DON'T NEED HER VOTE ANYWAY, SO SHE IS SAFE NOW TO WAIL AWAY AT THE PRESIDENT.
