DMV worker who warned of hell for gays quits job
Source: San Francisco Chronicle

(12-16) 14:21 PST SAN FRANCISCO -- The Department of Motor Vehicles employee who sent a letter to a transgender woman warning of eternal damnation after she sought to record her sex change on her driver's license has quit his job, the DMV said Thursday.

Thomas Demartini, who had worked as a customer service representative at the department's San Francisco office for about two years, submitted a letter of resignation Wednesday evening, DMV spokesman Michael Marando said.

The department placed Demartini on administrative leave, with pay, shortly after the woman reported the incident in late October. Marando said the DMV has nearly completed an investigation and will make its findings public.

Why'd the DMV, especially in an era of BUDGET CUTS, even let this guy get paid while not working??? But it's good he had the decency to leave a job that he clearly can't do with everyone.

3. I wish
This asshole would just go work for the church and stay OUT of contact with the general public. Glad that customer was not me,I would have chewed this dweebs ass so bad he would have quit that day.

Wish we could take these foamers and isolate them on an island, and leave them these with NO WAY TO GET OFF The island OR COMMUNICATE with the rest of the world. Than take over those empty megachurches with mall like parkinglots and make them into shelter for people who are foreclosed upon.

Howabout that?

6. It's very, very hard to terminate a public employee for cause in California
They have many layers of protection, with rigid formal processes for corrective action and numerous avenues of appeal.

17. Does this action mean he preserves benefits that would have been lost had he been fired?
At least he's gone from DMV.

so I don't see how he could keep his benefits.

9. Why did the put him on paid leave? Because
until some sort of investigation or inquiry is made, he can't be assumed to have done anything wrong. It's standard, and it is reasonable in my book. The guy was an asshole, he lost (left) his job.

At this point, though, people are pissed off.

IIRC, even Jesus had a hard time tolerating holier than thous.

I sometimes wonder how they zone in on a couple of very brief references in the Old Testament, while missing much of the words that the Bible attribute to Jesus.

Selectively hooked on phonics?
