WASHINGTON (AP) - President Bush's re-election campaign asked supporters Monday to urge federal officials to crack down on groups spending millions of dollars to promote Democrat John Kerry, its second such move in a week.

Campaign chairman Marc Racicot asked recipients in an e-mail to press the Federal Election Commission to approve proposed restrictions on the groups, which are spending "soft money" - corporate, union and unlimited donations - on ads and get-out-the-vote efforts aimed at helping Kerry win the election.

"To make sure that everyone plays by the same rules we need you to tell the commissioners they should force these groups to comply with federal law," Racicot wrote. Supporters could forward an e-mail drafted by the campaign or write their own comments to the FEC.

The campaign and the Republican National Committee last week filed a complaint asking the commission to clear the way for Bush to seek court action to stop the groups' spending.

3. Bush
This angers me more and more everyday. They are trying to stop people from making an informed decision on who they want to have as president. The Bush administration has the audicity to tell Russia their election wasn't fair because those running against Putin were not allowed equal access to media campaigning. Well hello. This will only hurt the little guy who is represented by Democrats. Of course we are all unemployed, and can't give the maximum amounts to the campaign. In the mean time the rich just find new ways to get around the maximum amount allowed. We are losing our voices with this. Then make it completely fair and each candidate gets the same amount. This is bullshit.

6. here's mine to the FCC
I am a supporter of MoveOn.org as is my right under the 1st amendment. Any actions you may (or may not) take regarding the lawsuit from the Republican National Party, your sworn duty must be not to infringe on my rights as a citizen to support organizations that share and promote my views. While I disagree with the NRA and the AARP, I would defend their right to organize, lobby and advertise their views to the limits of my ability.

Please do not allow a partisan debate debase the freedoms of America and Americans.

Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.

5. I get the Bush* supporter emails. This morning's message about 527s
I took the opportunity to use their online letter submission form to write a note to thee FEC, via the Repubs server, in which I expressed my opinions about free political speech, freedom of assembly, and my own interpretation of the Campaign Finance laws being discussed. Then, I urged them to ignore the biased and erroneous compalaints of the Repubs.

I love using Repub servers to write letters. Gives me warm fuzzies!

15. It's called voter fraud and most who do it would complain about it
if the other side did it. They are an undisciplined lot. When you sign a voter's signature poll book and state your alliance with a party you are swearing allegiance to that party's ideals ad beliefs. I grant you, a "party's ideals and beliefs" is mighty ethereal, but that is the way it is written. If you are willing to lie to an election official, then you are committing voter fraud, just the same as if you voted more than once or voted in someones stead.

8. Would it be fair to say that
1) the reason why the Bush campaign ISN'T doing what they're accusing the Kerry campaign of doing is that they don't need the money?

2) this is the Bush campaign's was of stealling Kerry's gloves before he even gets into the ring?

12. They have government agencies providing * support... like the
medicaid "news" report, and having the various gov't agencies compute the cost of Kerry's campaign pledges.

14. Well, then, I guess in that case
Kerry would have to do a bare-knuckle fight.

Who would win, were that the case?
