Journalist sues Uribe for slander
Wednesday, 22 December 2010 07:48 Adriaan Alsema

Colombian journalist Daniel Coronell is suing the country's former President Alvaro Uribe and his two sons for slander after the Uribe family through Twitter accused the journalist of ties to drug lords, local media reported Wednesday.

Following the publication of a column in weelky Semana wherein Coronell wrote about the alleged conflict of interest of Tomas Uribe in the granting of public works to an Colombian company investigating for bribery, Uribe and his sons opened a Twitter attack on the journalist who they accuse of having had ties to a drug lord who is ow in jail in the United States.

The former President's Twitter attack lasted 12 hours after which Coronell sent out a press release saying Uribe is trying to divert attention from the illegal practices of his family.

Coronell now wants Uribe and his sons Tomas and Jeronimo to explain why they say the journalist is a "mafioso," "murderer," "conman" and and "extortionist."

1. Uribe seems to have forgotten that he is only a guest lecturer now
and is no longer President.

2. Uribe's twitter attack

"Once again that Daniel Coronell is bothering my son ... bring me my cellphone, I'm going to give him a severe beating."

You are right on in your concern about Coronell's survival. Lots of uribista sicarios still running loose.

Btw, the "public works" project is the Ruta del Sol project -- a superhighway that will link Bogota to the Atlantic coast. A billion-dollar-plus project. Tommy uribito would get a hefty commission if certain people and companies get the contract.

3. Didn't know the connection to the Ruta del Sol project. Those two sons got off so easily
from their association with that mega-criminal, David Murcia, money-launderer, pyramid-scheming "Madoff of Latin America."

What a totally crappy family, anyway. ALL of them.

Love that cartoon. That's a good "take" on Uribe.
