GOP hopefuls skip Hispanic forum
Source: UPI

Only one likely Republican U.S. presidential candidate has agreed to attend the opening conference of a conservative Hispanic political forum, Politico says.

Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, who made political speeches in Iowa in November 2009 and this past April, agreed to participate in the Hispanic Leadership Network conference in Coral Gables, Fla., Jan. 13-14, the newspaper says.

But former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney declined. So did South Dakota U.S. Sen. John Thune, Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels and Texas Gov Rick Perry.

1. Good! Keep it up, GOP!
GOOD! Turn yer backs! Full speed ahead ignoring this mushrooming constituency! Good Good GOOD! MORE of those nice gestures with the middle finger to the Hispanic voting bloc. Keep reminding them why they need to stick with the Dems!

And I hope the conference attendees remember this when it's election time.

2. Why do Republicons HATE Hispanic people?
Edited on Fri Dec-24-10 01:54 PM by SpiralHawk
Ya gotta wonder. Is it because many Hispanics are devoutly Christian? Or is it something else?

3. It's not that they hate Hispanics
It's that they're afraid something like "taco bender" will slip out.

6. The republiCANTs have to have something to scare white people
The the most powerful thing the RepubliCANTs have is their ability to scare white middle class people, but they have to keep tweaking the hate, raising the stakes. Illegal Hispanics are just the flavor du jour.

8. Welcome to DU.
And if my extended Hispanic family is anything to go by, we'd pin the bastard's ears back. The only conservative in my family attending would be one fanatic anti-choice sister and right now, she's pretty steamed about Arizona, the DREAM Act and she's intimidated by Teabaggers. She's curtailed her listening of Sean Hannity and Glenn Beck because of this (but, not Billo, go figure). I hope they do keep it up. We voted for Obama by almost 70%. We hate those bastards. If they keep it up, they'll lose us as completely as they lost the African-American vote after they opposed the Civil Rights Act of '64. With people of color soon compromising almost a third of the population, and their pre-Civil Rights, segregationist base dying off in the next decade or drooling into their oatmeal in nursing homes, I couldn't be happier seeing them dissing Hispanics.

11. It's intresting you mention all those things that are ticking off Hispanics
I'm Asian(of Indian descent), and I became a Democrat not because of anything specific(there's no Asian Dream Act or Civil Rights Act), but msotly because I thought Republicans were close-minded when it comes to racial groups and selfish in general, and Democrats were far more open-minded in many different ways and I can attest that most of my family votes Democrat or Green Party. Cheers! :toast:
