U.S. Passport Application Undergoes Change To Accomodate Same-Sex Parents
Source: Huffington Post

The U.S. passport application process is taking a step toward gender neutrality by dropping the words "mother" and "father" from their forms.

According to a recent Fox News report, applicants will soon be required to fill out spaces labeled "Parent One" and "Parents Two," instead.

Fox News reports:

A statement on the State Department website noted: "These improvements are being made to provide a gender neutral description of a child's parents and in recognition of different types of families." The statement didn't note if it was for child applications only.

While gay rights are already lauding the change in policy, which they say is reflective of the nation's increasing acceptance of changing family structures, some social conservatives have taken the opposite view.

3. Do you have a cite for that?

One that specifically states they are being deported because they are gay?

7. Nobody said they were being deported BECAUSE they were gay.
Yet many, ALTHOUGH LEGALLY MARRIED in states in which same-gender marriage is the law, are still being deported and separated from their spouses. Any more questions?

11. Yes, my question is how many.
I'd also like to know how it compared to deportations of straight "sham" marriages that result in deportation.

6. The old guard still don't "get it".....
The conservatives continue to swim upstream against a torrent. American society has moved beyond Ward and June Cleaver to embrace many so-called "non-traditional" families. In fact these are quickly becoming the norm in American culture.

I applaud the State Department for taking this step that recognizes the reality of so-called "non-traditional" families especially thinking about the interests of the child. A child that is being raised by same-sex parents is discriminated against when official forms and processes assume a father and a mother.

I expect that in another 10 years same-sex marriage will be the law of the land and no one, except the black hearts of the religious nutcases, will be any worse off. In fact I suggest it may free heterosexual couples to re-consider traditional roles in a marriage which serve them better.

10. There's another reason to do this
If the father is a real scumbag and mother has sole custody, why should she be listed last?
