Student-run 'Information Station' crew keeps protesters organized and supplied

The Wisconsin state Capitol rotunda after dark looks much the same as it does during daylight hours these days. Keep the drums and chants, subtract about half the protestors, add in several tired-eyed toddlers and some sleeping bags, and you’ve got the picture.

“I just took all my stuff and moved in here,” says UW-Madison junior Vali Nashat.

Nestled onto a carpet of blankets in a pillow-cushioned corner of the second floor, Nashat says he hasn’t spent a night away from the Capitol floor since protestors staged the first “sleep-in” Tuesday.

While others in the blanket nook settle in with laptops and textbooks, Nashat and a few friends sit on the edge, talking politics and the protest so far.

1. Dat's dem Goddam Cheesehead soshalists for ya.
"Not only do the Capitol protestors “want” to help, they’re organized and ready to serve. Thanks to several enterprising groups and a lot of cooperative individuals, the Capitol rotunda now boasts garbage collection, recycling, a community food bank, water supplies, lost and found, an information services station, and more."

5. But, but, but...
They're a bunch of thugs who are trashing state property, and leaving a huge mess for others to clean up.

At least that is what the wingnuts are saying...

4. Mini-Egypt.
This is what the Egyptians did. They organized garbage, food, etc. Huge K&R for the students! This is absolutely awesome! Boy, to be a parent of a young person like that -- hope their parents are proud as hell. I sure would be.

13. Exactly -- they watched and learned
I have no doubt that they were inspired by the Egyptians and are doing the things that "worked" ... sustained protest crowds (not one day and then go home), nonviolence, organization, etc.

10. Bless these students! Their parents and teachers should be teary-eyed PROUD!
I've just had a bigger infusion of hope than I've felt for at least a decade!

Doing the right thing, doing it well, doing it for the right reasons!

Koch has some outside, paid agitators? Let them come and hang their heads in shame when they view the real thing! Even the movie selection, Harlan County, USA, is a great choice!

Yes, if someone can provide a link to help fund, we can get a few Texas bucks headed that way!

14. I am so proud of these people...
they have it down to a science...responsible people taking on the processes that have them so peeved, in a way that is impossible not to respect.

And they having a dramatic impact on the elected officials that created this nightmare of people losing any benefits they have or will accrue.

Let the RW screech and gnash their teeth...they lost this one, and lost it badly...:D

FWIW...this has taken on a life of it's own, and is the harbinger of the death of the Teabagger movement. They lost here, they lose everywhere...;)

These students and protesters are too smart to buy the corporate media lies...their commitment shows it. Nobody is leading them. They look around and see what's happening to our country. It's starts in Wisconsin...and I hope it doesn't end until the rich are eating dirt.

23. The protests are infectious and energizing...40,000 on Friday...history is being made.
People all over the country are talking. Politicians tell us to sacrifice...sacrifice...sacrifice. Meanwhile the top 1% hogs 23.5% of income and get a tax cut. And often this 23.5% of income is made by shipping jobs to China.

The time is right. This can spread like wildfire.

that Walker is looking for camels and horses to ride through the protesters?

Amazing how government thinks alike everywhere. Bring in their shills to start violence and then blame the marchers. Sounds like that won't fly.

Pity so many Wisconsinites are brainwashed by the Fox propaganda.

These are never the type of people you see on shows like; 115 Kids & Counting.

If ever there were people that should be encouraged to pro-create.

However, I suspect these people are smart enough to realize that might actually be a BAD idea.
