MANAGUA, Nicaragua – Nicaragua's leftist President Daniel Ortega says he has telephoned Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi to express his solidarity.

Ortega says he has called several times this week because Gadhafi "is again waging a great battle" to defend the unity of his nation.

2. What is it with Castro, Chavez, Ortega...
...that seem to compel them to declare personal brotherly solidarity with some of the worlds most vile totalitarians?

Or is this story just a mistranslation or the product of some right wing conspiracy?

Are the DU Chavista's finding common cause with Gadhafi? Where do the Chavez cheerleaders stand in all of this?

and authoritarians need to stick together. I imagine there is concern that these protests will spread to other regions if you know what I mean.
