Wisconsin State JournalMadison Police Chief Noble Wray Thursday asked Gov. Scott Walker to explain his "troubling" and "unsettling" statements captured in a secretly recorded phone conversation that he "thought about" planting troublemakers among the thousands of peaceful demonstrators at the Capitol.
The protests, heading into their 11th day, are aimed at a bill Walker proposed to strip most bargaining rights from state and local unionized employees in Wisconsin.
"I spent a good deal of time overnight thinking about Governor Walker's response, during his news conference yesterday (Wednesday), to the suggestion that his administration 'thought about' planting troublemakers among those who are peacefully protesting his bill," Wray said in a statement issued this morning." I would like to hear more of an explanation from Governor Walker as to what exactly was being considered, and to what degree it was discussed by his cabinet members.
"I find it very unsettling and troubling that anyone would consider creating safety risks for our citizens and law enforcement officers. Our department works hard dialoging with those who are exercising their First Amendment right, those from both sides of the issue, to make sure we are doing everything we can to ensure they can demonstrate safely.

The police chief was a bit circumspect about this, but couldn't it also be illegal?
This is another sign of revolution or at least real change coming here: first the cops union and now the police chief in the capital are turning on Walker. If the state troopers and national guard turned on him too, he would be dead in the water.
The police should be calling for his resignation or looking for a way to arrest him.
We saw the positive side of this coin when Obama was first inaugurated and some sheriffs refused to do any more foreclosure evictions, mistakenly thinking that Obama was going to unequivocally side with the people instead of at best bow and scrape at the Wall Street master's table for a crumb or scrap of gristle for us.
This needs to spread to ALL cops. Even if the right promise to spare THEIR union and makes sweetheart deals with them, is there any doubt once the rest of us are broken that they won't circle back and break the cops unions too?
That is essentially what they did with the New Deal after the fall of communism. They needed the New Deal to get the middle and working class on their side in the Cold War, but once that big enemy was gone, they pulled out the long knives and proceeded to cut the New Deal safety net away from us, and didn't care if they spilled our blood along the way too.
Enough is enough. Cops, guardsmen, and our military show up to work to protect the common good, not the right of the wealthy to shake the last pennies out of our pocket then pry our fillings out too.
This police chief is a hero.
