Libyan: Qaddafi forces shoot hospital patients
Source: CBS

A resident of the increasingly violent Libyan capital of Tripoli told CBS Radio News Thursday that armed supporters of Muammar Qaddafi, the country's longtime leader, have stormed into hospitals to shoot wounded demonstrators and take dead bodies to an unknown location.

"They go in with guns into hospitals," said the resident, identified only as Adel to protect his safety. "They take the bodies that are dead. In some hospitals, they have shot the wounded. This is true. I know it's very strange for the States, but this is happening today in Tripoli."

<snip>

In one example of the violence in Libya, Adel said he saw 62 protesters killed and about 100 more wounded in Tripoli's Green Square Tuesday.

"They're putting the bodies on half pickup trucks, and they're taking them somewhere we don't know yet because they don't want these bodies to go into hospitals," Adel said.

2. Terrible... if true (which it certainly might be)
But I remember in the run-up to the first invasion of Iraq how it was reported that Hussein's men were going into hospitals and throwing prematurely-born babies out of their incubators.

Turned out the witness was connected, professionally coached, and lying.

15. Thank you, that was my first thought too.
We can't afford to be the world's policeman, especially since we have 100,000 people dying in the U.S. per year due to lack of health care. Who is going to help us?

6. Considering it's Kaddafi supporters/henchmen they are capable of almost
anything. But I agree I'd like to see a little corroboration on this.

7. There isn't going to be a corroboration on this, there never is.
One day Kaddafi is all but forgotten & the next day he's the baddest guy on the planet. Everybody is up in arms, there's a genocide going on but nobody has any proof. This story is repeated with one guy or another about every 10 years or so.

8. imo, Kaddafi is one of the select few
that is bad enough and crazy enough, that almost nothing would surprise me. He's like Kim Jong Il but not as ronery.

16. Kaddafi is a very petty criminal next to Bush Jr. & cabal.
U.S. war machine needs oil (and "causes"). Don't be fooled.

12. I've seen well over 100 dead bodies of Libyan people.
You need to look at Al Jazeera's coverage.

13. There's video of quick repairs being made to protester damaged buildings.
Particularly police stations, all in order to cover up what happened as quickly as possible.

That they're (Libyan forces) going into hospitals and shooting protesters, that is.

17. In reality I'm pretty sure the truth is in the middle of both
Leaning more toward the overt death and destruction of the protesters. Gadaffi is without a doubt not going to sit by passively and let an organized mass of protesters gently take control of Libya from his hands. I have little doubt, considering his history, he'd not continue to attempt to beat them down by violence and fear of more violence. However, there's no way the terror and trauma of what's taking place isn't going to color the reports from the victims either. There's no way a mind can process witnessing acts such as were reported this morning ( In Tripoli, security forces opened fire indiscriminately on worshippers leaving prayers... ) and not be traumatized.
