Robinson says OSU targeting his kids (was Pete DeFazio's opponent)
Source: Register Guard

Art Robinson, who ran unsuccessfully against incumbent 4th District Congressman Peter DeFazio in November, has launched a public campaign against Oregon State University, alleging that the school is conspiring to expel his three children — all graduate students there — as political payback for his activism.

Joshua, Bethany and Matthew Robinson are working on advanced degrees at OSU’s Department of Nuclear Engineering and Radiation Health Physics. Robinson says they are excellent students and researchers.

The university confirmed that all three are registered students, but would not release any other information about their status, citing privacy laws.

None of the Robinson students responded to e-mailed requests for comment from The Register-Guard sent on Monday afternoon.

I added a minimal clarification to the title, because this contest got national attention, but the title only plays well locally.

Many Tea party people supported this guy against DeFazio, and he was rude, combative and ugly toward Pete in the entire race. His kids were outside the windows of the election center spying on what election officials and employees were doing, and he has been a cry baby about losing constantly since the election. I'm telling you, this guy is annoying and I'm really getting tired of seeing his antics.

1. Robinson's campaign was financed mostly by a hedge-fund
manager in New York. Rachel Maddow had him on and this guy is NUTS!

:-(

2. He really is, his kids were spying on Oregon Election officials...
...during the recount he paid for using binoculars. And he violated minor parts of election law by using his home schooling business' large printing operation to send a constant stream of large, glossy color election material through the mail. Pete knows this and is letting it slide apparently. (I canvassed for Pete last election, and we talked about this.)

This guy is arrogant and crazy. From this article:

(snip) "Nuclear energy came up as an issue during the campaign because Robinson publishes an energy newsletter and advocates for the construction of more nuclear power plants.

In his newsletter, Robinson has speculated that radioactive spent nuclear fuel could be incorporated in residential construction materials in a way that could improve people’s health."

3. I saw that segment and thought it was satire, tongue-in-cheek.
And then I realized the guy was really serious.

We were laughing out loud at the nutcase.

8. I recommended solely for the exposure it deserves.
I believe the guy is rude. Annoying. Out of his tree. I am so glad he lost. Peter DeFazio is Oregon's version of a cardboard cutout of Paul Wellstone.

9. And a legend in his own mind
Edited on Tue Mar-08-11 07:56 PM by Ferret Annica
I saw him at the Lane County District's Rapid Bus Transit expension public hearing and he was making an ungodly ass of himself trying to bad vibe and lecture others there who were giving publc comments for the Emax.

He had the security and the Eugene police people who showed up very on edge.

I couldn't help telling him how I had seen his campaign telephone job advertisements at the local Oregon Employment Department office and that I chose to not apply and not make extra money than to work for a wacko like him. (I can't help it, I'm very much a political activist and I absolutely cannot stand this idiot.)

He then demanded to know if the Employment people had poisned the well about him and that's why I didn't apply. It seems he thinks the reason he got so few telephone people was because the liberal stooges at the Employment office have it in for him.

I winked and told him, "No buddy, I just realized once I knew it was you doing the hiring, that I just wasn't radioactive enough to work for ya."

Then I carefully and quickly got away from the insane guy.

10. Oh Yeah, OSU is a DeFazio stronghold
Edited on Tue Mar-08-11 08:37 PM by OutNow
I hoped we'd have seen the last of Art Robinson last November after Pete DeFazio crushed him, but I guess not. Robinson, among his other attributes, is a mean old man. If you can picture John McCain's "hey you kids get off my lawn" older crazier brother, that's Art Robinson.

You might even believe his claim, at least for a minute, that his kids are being picked on in graduate school because the school is a liberal DeFazio stronghold IF that school was the U of O here in Eugene. But that's not where his kids are students. They go to Oregon State which is not even in DeFazio's district and does not have a history of liberal activism. It's like a Texan saying that Texas A&M is too liberal and that's why my kids didn't do well.

Insane.

11. My sister Pamela Bond was on the OSU gymnastics team
So I know where you are coming from. Eugene and the University of Oregon are incredibly liberal, and Corvallis and Oregon State is very middle of the road and hardly the place to go to sharpen one's political efficacy.

OSU is a land grant university that deals largely in agriculture. Corvallis is a quiet little city, but in Art's need to feed his ego and sense of paranoia about conspiracies against him, the place is part of the heart of liberal darkness that does not see the light of how brilliant a scientist and home school study course salesman he is.

He is a legend in his own mind.

13. The guy is batshit nuts.
Even moreso than Michelle Bachmann. I know that's hard to believe, but he is.

He sells home-schooling texts including books written by a 19th century racist colonialist.

He said AIDS isn't caused by HIV.

He said spilled oil doesn't harm the oceans, it benefits the oceans instead.

And WingNutDaily lets him spout his conspiracy theories about his spoiled brats.
