Atheist ads vanish from Kelowna buses
Source: CBC News

Atheists in the Okanagan are looking for answers after two ads questioning the existence of God mysteriously vanished from the side of two Kelowna buses.

The ads were bought by the Centre for Inquiry, a group representing atheists, agnostics and secular humanists and read, "There probably is no god, now stop worrying and enjoy your life."

Guy King, a spokesman for the centre, said the ads were professionally removed while the buses were locked up in the B.C. Transit yard and he's yet to receive an explanation from either the transit company or the advertising agency how that happened.

"This ad has appeared all over the world and as far as I know, there has never been a problem. This is unprecedented. No ad has ever been taken down like this before," said King.

41. Umm...Not to put to fine a point on it but
Why do atheists always equate "religion" with, not only ONE

religion, but one small STRATA of it?

Do you have any IDEA how many non-atheists find

belief in "the rapture" completely ludicrous ?

Apparently not.

Hint: When attempting to wax witty on a subject,

full condescension in view,

it's best to have at

least a passing acquaintance with what

you're talking about.

requires evidence and logic to be central to any considered course of action. Unreasoning belief without evidence is not a hallmark of a critical thinker.

61. Experience
requires no logic

or evidence.

Much of what we consider "evidence" is just personal experience

collectively agreed upon.

I would also argue that most "courses of action"

throughout history and continuing into the present,

are based on emotions like love, hate, greed and other

illogical, mostly "evidence free"

conditions.

Atheist did what, had the ads professionally removed while the bus was locked in the transit yard?

In the real world, it is the religious who are most likely to stir up controversy through deceit.

My money is on transit authorities having the ads removed because of complaints from insecure religious people.

"By the sweat of your brow
you will eat your food
until you return to the ground,
since from it you were taken;
for dust you are
and to dust you will return.” "

What we do, we do to ourselves, don't blame God for our disobedience and willfulness.
We're mortal, get used to it, and try to straighten out your act instead of blaming God for your own problems.
Which is it? The 4th one you left off either intentionally or blindly.

57. Here are four options for you:
“Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able?
Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing?
Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing?
Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing?
Then why call him God?”

-- Epicurus

I'm glad god doesn't exist, because if it did then it would be the biggest A-hole in the universe.

20. Not Surprising
Atheism is not a religion to the extreme right.

Tories promise to create office for religious freedom draws skepticism

The Conservative campaign platform has injected religion into Canadian foreign policy.

The Tory platform, unveiled Friday, calls for the creation of special office of “Religious Freedom” within the Foreign Affairs Department in Ottawa.

The function of the new office would be to “monitor religious freedom around the world, to promote religious freedom as a key objective of Canadian foreign policy.”

The new office would ensure that Canada protects “vulnerable religious minorities” abroad and would target them in refugee resettlement, or other programs through the Canadian International Development Agency.
