CHP begins arresting protestors at (California) Capitol

The California Highway Patrol has begun arresting protesters at the Capitol, after warning about 65 to leave the building after its 6 p.m. closing.

The daylong protest, organized by the California Teachers Association, drew about 1,000 protesters for various activities. About 150 moved into the rotunda in late afternoon, and some of them refused to leave at closing time.

The crowd chanted "shame on you" as protesters were led off one by one to an elevator. The CHP used plastic wrist ties to bind the protesters

2. Now why would you use " Highway" Patrol ........
and not city and capitol police ? The Capitol is not on the "Highway" and out of their jurisdiction.

3. Technically, they are our state police.
I think that a small part of the org. is the police for the state capitol.

6. the state police used to be their own entity
but they are now part of the chp.

7. they didn't get the numbers... it is a numbers game. will we ever show up for each other? no, we
are too stupid, most of the time.  But the intellectuals seem
to be coming out of the woodwork, so maybe there is hope after
all.
