Top UN Official: U.S. Veto Would Block Vote On Palestinian Statehood
Source: ASSOCIATED PRESS

The president of the United Nations General Assembly said Friday there is no way that a Palestinian state could become a member of the United Nations without a recommendation from the Security Council.

Joseph Deiss told a news conference that if the United States or any other permanent council member used its veto, the General Assembly would not be able to vote on membership for Palestine.

The Palestinian UN Observer Mission had no immediate comment.

U.S. President Barack Obama said last weekend that no vote at the United Nations would ever create a Palestinian state, a strong indication that the U.S. would veto a resolution recommending Palestinian membership in the 192-nation world body.

2. that doesn't mean the General Assembly can't recognize Palestine as a state.
Deiss is probably an American sycophant, trying to muddy the issue.

3. That's right. The US can't stop Palestine being recognised as a sovereign state...
All it can do is display its hypocrisy in full view of the world and veto any SC Resolution granting the state of Palestine full member status at the UN. Though if the US had the ability to stop Palestine becoming a state, it'd be falling all over itself to do so, and still trying to claim that it supports a Palestinian state. Someone somewhere might actually believe the US on that, but anyone who does so has to be pretty silly to do so...

4. Why do the Arabs/Muslims hate America?
We have allowed greedy politicians to place America's citizens in harms way in order for them to make money." Oh what fools we mortals be".Wake up America.
