Wisconsin Dems to announce that they will try to recall Scott Walker
By Greg Sargent

There’s a long way to go, and the goal seems like a very tough one to reach, but Wisconsin Democrats are set to go for it: They will announce at their annual convention later today that they intend to launch an effort to recall the ultimate target — Scott Walker himself.

Mike Tate, the chairman of the Wisconsin Democratic Party, will reveal the plan in a speech today at the convention in Milwaukee, according to advance excerpts of the speech that were sent my way.

“We will not stand down — and next year, we will recall Scott Walker from office,” Tate will tell the crowd, according to the excerpts. “We will begin to repair the damage done to this state and we will begin anew with a Democratic Governor who will fight for our children, who will fight for our families, our teachers and our firefighters. We will fight for the people — not the powerful.”

While Dems have long been expected to ultimately launch a recall campaign against Walker, this will be the most explicit vow to date from Wisconsin Dems that they will, in fact, take the plunge. And the announcement is likely to make for some good political theater to fire up Wisconsin Democrats and grassroots activists, who are currently in a battle to recall six Wisconsin GOP state senators. It’s still unclear how many Wisconsin Dems will have to face recall elections, pending an official review of GOP signature-gathering.

5. I signed a petition to amend the Florida constitution
to recall Rick Scott, the "twin" of your Scott Governor. Where has it gone? I have heard nothing more about it. Hopefully, those of you in Wisconsin will be more successful.

19. Dems at the convention were really fired up
So many good speakers, and people were rising to applaud and cheer many, many times throughout the night. As to the subject of this post, at one point there was a video projected on the big screens (this session was in a huge ballroom, mind you, because of extraordinary attendance). The photos of the six recalled Republicans were shown, then overlaid with the word RECALLED. The the photo changed to Walker, and when the word NEXT appeared the crowd went wild.

in this case, means imprison and beat repeatedly.

24. walker's biggest ally will be local talk radio and here's a new petition
to adress the fact that those RW radio stations often get community acceptability and endorsement from the local universities

right in madison limbaugh's 1310 WIBA does badger sports

the petition is here http://signon.org/sign/american-universities-1?source=c.url&r_by=241761

the text:::

American Universities: Stop broadcasting athletics on Rush Limbaugh radio stations.

To be delivered to: American Universities and Colleges

“We the undersigned, demand that our state funded universities and colleges immediately find alternative non-partisan radio stations to broadcast their athletics.

By broadcasting on Rush Limbaugh and other political talk radio stations they endorse partisan political propaganda, global warming denial, hate, racism, and attacks on our unions and teachers, and therefore contradict their own stated goals and mission statements.”

Most talk radio stations in the US are dedicated to partisan politics and pro corporate propaganda. On most, only a small percentage of their prime time broadcasting includes non-partisan programing including state and local sports, weather, and traffic.

By broadcasting athletics on these stations our universities endorse and give community credibility and acceptability to talk stars like Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Michael Savage, and significantly increase their local ad revenues.
Most national talkers are protected by call screeners from challenge and correction. There is evidence of regular participation by paid callers.

Long term attacks by these and other national and local talkers directed at teachers, unions, global warming science, as well as coordinated political disinformation and direct and inferred racism, sexism, and hate mongering, make radio stations that broadcast them unacceptable partners for American institutions of higher learning, as well as their students and faculty.

26. No "try". Do it or god help us all here for Walker and his minions will finish us off.
There should be no excuse for "trying" to recall Walker. It MUST be done. No excuses for failure.

33. Republicans are not omnipotent, they can't just steal elections at will.
We've elected plenty of Democrats here over the years including governor, senators, and members of Congress. As Democrats we need to do all we can do to assure that our candidate wins the election and that means turning out and voting in numbers that are too big to steal even in part.

Here in La Crosse last spring we had a great turnout for the Supreme Court election, a big 40%. Koppenberg won with 57% of the vote but it is a sure bet that lots of Democrats did not vote just like they did not vote last fall and Walker was elected and Feingold was defeated. This time, no excuses for not voting--it's too important.

31. Nice to see that in Wisconsin the party is supporting the recall efforts
Here in Michigan, the grass roots are on our own. The party isn't getting behind the effort, nor are the unions.

36. The recall IS grassroots
The dem party of WI has caused a big stir with their announcement, but grassroots groups, principally United Wisconsin, have been leading the charge since February to get the job done. The grassroots movement is 100% groundswell from the people. And United Wisconsin PAC is not funded by any political party or unions.

Many think it's great that DPW is jumping on the bandwagon, but they're talking Nov. 2012 and there won't be any Wisconsin left by then. Wisconsinites are royally ticked off and want Walker out ASAP! That means many groups will begin collecting signatures as early as possible in November, with or without the democratic party. It make sense to me, though I may be naive, that we should listen to the will of the people (which is what "demos" means) and get on the same page. Remember, remember the 5th of November! www.unitedwisconsin.com

32. This is how you do it
This is how you fight the corporate politics of the GOP/Tea Party; one person, one signature, one vote at a time. Wisconsin has a history of voters getting right testy when they think their rights are threatened, or when outsiders come in and try to run things. I was just a kid when Joseph R. McCarthy was in full cry, and I remember very well the recall effort that almost succeeded. My parents were quite active in that recall. I have a feeling Mr. Walker may be going home early.

At least the Wisconsin Democrats are willing to support the recalls in that State. Here in Michigan we have not gotten any support from the Party whatsoever It's sad really.
