Volney clerk may relent on SSM
Source: Albany Times Union

Volney Town Clerk Barbara MacEwen may be doing same sex marriages after all, according to this piece from the Syracuse Post Standard’s Glenn Coin.

The clerk, whose community is about a half hour from Syracuse, made headlines earlier in the week when she said she wouldn’t perform same sex marriages when the law takes effect July 24.

But now, MacEwin is quoted as saying:

“I took an oath to follow the law and I intend to do that,” MacEwen said. “I’m resigned to the fact that I don’t agree with it, but I will do it and I will treat them equally.”

7. I'm here in northern Oswego County
I haven't heard a discouraging word on the range re: SSM. Probably because most folks have been divorced so many times they just want to share the fun with the gay folk. Count me out. Happily married and wish the same for all.

8. Then you may understand that there's a little bit of snobbery from
Volney re Granby. Volney has zoning forbidding mobile homes; Granby practically revolted when the town board made the suggestion that we do the same.

4. 'May Relent' like it's HER call?
Is there a *&*( job description for this role she was elected to? An oath to perform that job?
