Political Conversation: Condi’s Slip
By Deborah Schoeneman

A pressing issue of dinner-party etiquette is vexing Washington, according to a story now making the D.C. rounds: How should you react when your guest, in this case national-security adviser Condoleezza Rice, makes a poignant faux pas? At a recent dinner party hosted by New York Times D.C. bureau chief Philip Taubman and his wife, Times reporter Felicity Barringer, and attended by Arthur Sulzberger Jr., Maureen Dowd, Steven Weisman, and Elisabeth Bumiller, Rice was reportedly overheard saying, “As I was telling my husb—” and then stopping herself abruptly, before saying, “As I was telling President Bush.” Jaws dropped, but a guest says the slip by the unmarried politician, who spends weekends with the president and his wife, seemed more psychologically telling than incriminating. Nobody thinks Bush and Rice are actually an item. A National Security Council spokesman laughed and said, “No comment.”

I don't understand why Pickles stays with the swampthing. But I do have suspicions about the relationship with Kinda-Sleazy and it.

9. Because if she di d not, she would be poor

and without any significant abilitites to support herself.

She would simply fade away. I think she enjoys living off the dole of the American taxpayers, or the Texas taxpayers or the Bush family.

Laura is a Stepford wife--she believes she deserves every bit of everything she can grab from us and anyone else.

She has little else and has never shown any inclination to establish herself with any individual accomplishments or any individual interests.

Her latest is actually laughable. She is documented in an NPR interview as being very interested in "nature" and that is expressed , according to the NPR, to protecting the "wildflowers" on the Bush 1,600 acre Texas ranch estate.

I ask you--in the midst of all the tens of thousand of deaths of babies and children and women and old men innocents, that are directly attributed to her husbands failed, disasterous, ignorant policies, if this effort is indeed appropriate. IT reeks of "let them eat cake" does it not?

And, exactly what is Condi always doing there , completing a threesome? We have never been privy to any of Condi's family connections. This rumor along with the Bush depiction as them both looking like a typical "couple" as they snuck out of the ranch incognito,on Thanksgiving, in disguise, to fly away in the dead of night,to the troops in Iraq so that Bush could pose with a plastic turkey in front of a hundred screened troops and get a great photo op. Why was it Condi and not Laura that participated in that? Could not Laura have also been beside her husband on that mission?

That event also seems to have failed and not only failed but was laughed at.

3. Reminds of a book I read.
Glittering Images by Susan Howatch (great book). In it the bishop of the Anglican church has been married to his wife of many years. There is a younger woman in their employee at the bishop's palace, or whatever it is called. She is a very competent, business like person who runs their affairs. A man falls in love with her and toward the end of the book you find out that she and the bishop consider themselves married in God's eyes. They had this kind of faux ceremony between the three of them and she wore a ring of his. The wife was glad to be free of the marital duties and these two were left to indulge their passion. They had deluded themselves into thinking it was God's will and with God's blessing and of course they have to have a lot of mind bending counseling to get through that one.

Oooh, yuck. The thought of Condi and Chimpy doing the horizontal hula is revolting.

6. LOL....
I tell you what...it's probably a lot easier to find men who have done that...than it is to find men who will admit having done it.

7. Damn right it's psychological.
That's one messed up woman. The incident described is NOT like calling your wife "mom." First of all - she wasn't talking TO the person but ABOUT him. Second, she has no husband, and had never been married, so why would she slip by calling him "my husband." That's not a Freudian slip, it's full-blown psychosis!

8. well, she is said to read him the briefs...
sounds like spousal pampering to me. probably felt like it after a while. i also wonder if she feels her 'husband' is a lazy nincompoop like a disgruntled wife who has to pamper her husband just to get him to do anything... :)
