NBA Negotiations Break, With 'Very Huge Day' Ahead
Source: AP-Excite

By BRIAN MAHONEY

NEW YORK (AP) - After a lockout that has lasted more than three months, whether the NBA season starts on time could come down to one "very huge day" in labor talks.

Owners and players will be back Tuesday for a full bargaining session, knowing if they fail to produce results, there may not be enough time left to avoid canceling regular-season games.

"A lot of signs point to tomorrow being a very huge day," players' association president Derek Fisher of the Lakers said. "There will be a lot of pressure on all of us in the room, and we'll accept that responsibility and go in and see what we can get worked out."

The sides met in small groups Monday for about five hours, a session that Deputy Commissioner Adam Silver said was mainly about "setting the table" for Tuesday. While careful not to put too much pressure on Tuesday's talks, he and Commissioner David Stern made clear there had to be signs of compromise.

1. Cancel the season, bring on international ball.
There are teams throughout the world that the players can play for. The owners need them more than the players need the owners.

I'm a huge NBA fan, but at this point I wouldn't mind seeing the league fold. They can come back in a year or two after contracting and ditching the crappy owners that are forcing this crisis. I'm looking at you Dan Gilbert.

2. I agree...
I'm a very causual viewer but have increased my following over the last several years.

Hell...I'm giving up. Shit can the whole thing...owners and all.

I'm sick of the millions, millions and MILLIONS of dollars...garbage such as Lakers owner guy, cutting
a deal with Comcast and stopping any and all games on local channels (that is, NO free viewing for the
little people). Screw off, DOCTOR Buss.

Good bye NBA.

3. Actually, the players need the season more than you think...
The foriegn teams will take the stars of course, but the rest of the players will twist in the wind...

Even the mid-and-lower tier stars: Many of them have never been out of North America; how well do you think they will fit in a strange place where they don't know the langage or culture?
