Judge: Denver may send ballots to inactive voters
Edited on Fri Oct-07-11 04:49 PM by cal04
Source: Denver Post

Denver Clerk and Recorder Debra Johnson may send ballots to inactive voters, a district court judge ruled this afternoon.

Secretary of State Scott Gessler asked a judge last month to issue a preliminary injunction stopping Johnson's office from sending mail ballots to voters classified as "inactive failed to vote."

Those voters — about 54,357 in Denver county, or about 12 percent of all registered voters — are voters who didn't vote in the 2010 general election or any subsequent election. They also failed to respond to postcards from their clerk and recorder asking whether they want a ballot for the Nov. 1 election.

(snip)
Although the judge refused to issue a preliminary injunction, Gessler's suit may continue.

1. "Inactive voters
When voters are legally required to vote and fail to vote, then maybe Gessler would have a point. If more people voted maybe guys like him wouldn't grt into office.

3. Isn't this in reference to Denver attempting to disallow those who hadn't voted in 2010
from voting in 2012?

If so, considering how many Democrats failed to show up at the ballot in 2010
who had voted in 2012, isn't this a victory for Democrats?
