'Occupy Wall Street' rally spreads to downtown Casper

CASPER, Wyo. — A group of about 50 people gathered in downtown Casper on Saturday to show support for New York City's Occupy Wall Street protest movement.
"Stand up to corporate greed and corporate excess, that's my message," said Will Welch, a University of Wyoming student who drove to Casper from Laramie for the noon rally.
Welch, standing in Pioneer Park, clutched a homemade sign that read, "Tax the Banks." He held it up each time a vehicle passed on Center Street.
"Most of the wealth is concentrated in the hands of a small number of people, and the wealthy, they don't pay as high a tax rate as the middle class," he said. "So my message is, the rich need to be taxed."

2. Wyoming had been the one state that stuck out like a sore thumb

for having no action. Even the Dakotas had sympathy protests at the universities. Hell, even UTAH did.

I knew they had it in them. The only guy I ever knew from Wyoming drove around in a battered pickup truck he'd painted pink. He was straight, too. Tough kid.
