'Occupy Cleveland' growing in size and numbers
Source: Newsnet5.com

Posted: 5:21 AM

CLEVELAND - A small town is starting to form on Public Square in Cleveland. The protesters that call themselves, “Occupy Cleveland,” have been in downtown Cleveland since last Thursday protesting everything from corporate greed to the way the United States government is operating.

The protesters have set up on the sidewalk on West Roadway on the outer edge of Public Square. The area is surrounded by homemade signs hanging on a rope tied to trees. Inside the rope and signs, the protesters have set up a few tables with food that has been donated, sleeping bags and blankets and even a laptop with Internet access to push their message to social media.

The whole point, organizers said, of Occupy Cleveland is to make downtown their "home." They said they will not leave until they see some change in America.

They have permits from city officials until October 17, 2011. Then, they will have to re-apply for more permits. So far, they have had very peaceful demonstrations and said they have not seen much resistance from the public or police.

5. How has the R&R Museum contributed to the nation's problems?
Why interfere with something that has nothing to do with the situation we're in?

6. Iron Maiden hasn't been inducted into the R&R Hall of Fame.
Surely that has contributed to the nation's problems.

10. It is a nice place to hang out, went there about a year ago.
However, it was bad enough that I picked a day where the NE Patriots had come to play the Browns, and that filled up the parking places. At least my lady (assertive NJ girl that she is) managed to talk someone into letting us pay $25 to park in a VIP area at the nearby Science Museum, even though we weren't season ticket holders or that kind of thing.

Imagine if I were a teenaged kid, who finally persuaded his parent(s) to take him or her on a long promised trip to the museum, just to have it shut down by OWS protestors. You can bet that I might not be sympathetic to their side. I fear that's happened already with the Air and Space Museum.

12. "just to have it shut down by OWS protestors"...
democracy is sometimes inconvenient.

14. Democracy is often inconvenient
Anarchy is too, but is less tolerated by people who don't bother to figure out how to vote until the weekend before an election.

The fight has always been for that mushy middle. If the OWS movement asserts its own definable, achievable goals, then it wins. If it is made into a caricature by the Rethugs, it loses.

4. Go Cleveland! Stop Kasich
You must stop Gov.John Kasic (Koch Bros stooge and Teabag Zombie)

As everyone knows, Kasich is in the process of stealing all revenue from toll roads (Ohio Turnpike), busting the teachers unions and selling off all Ohio prisons to his buddies.

Just like Rick Scott in Florida, Kasich has stopped any high speed rail. Rail (btw) that would have connected Cleveland to Cincinnati, Dayton and Columbus.. creating thousands of new jobs.

The MSM in Cleveland is right-wing corporate controlled... but the truth is starting to leak out.....

Way to go Cleveland.

19. I moved to Cleveland when I was 13...
in 1981. When the Press went away, it seemed to be quite a big deal. I grew up reading (and delivering) the Plain Dealer, which used to be a good paper.

It started around Thurs-Friday with a few people. By Friday, they had some of the center of Public Square occupied.
