29. Rec'd it also.
So the Boston cops are trying to make the movement grow the same way the NYPD did? I wonder who is giving the orders?

Pretty stupid thing to do now when more and more mainstream people and orgs are endorsing this movement.

64. But if the un wreckers succeed in keeping the rec's below five;
Edited on Tue Oct-11-11 10:17 AM by ooglymoogly
that can keep an important post off the front page. I have seen as many as 50 un wrecks (and there are probably more) on a thread, keeping it at zero. So it IS an important subject to comment on. Un wrecks can be and are a form of censorship and if mounted for that purpose is cynical and unhealthy to say the least. To imply that they do not matter is a bit empty headed or worse.

it doesn't affect me, but it gets tiring when, 1 minute after a post is made someone cries about the unreccers. It ranks right up there on the annoyance scale with the "first post" phenomenon a few years back.

I switched over to the Boston stream because it was larger, but I believe the New York one was close to 4000 watchers at that point. And some of the other cities with livestreams may have had it as well.

So somewhere in the vicinity of 20,000 at a guess?

5. Thank you, LAPD.
That is the way to treat these particular protestors: with respect.

They are protesting to secure your pensions and jobs as well as hopefully someday, theirs.

Wall Street sold bogus investments to cities, counties and states not just in the US but overseas.

Every city in the US should support these protestors. They are patriots protesting for fairness and good government.

Get corporate money out of government. Let good guys like the members of the LA City Council govern us.

107. Right now they're still on UNM Campus, in Yale Park (Yale & Central)
as far as I know they still don't have permission to stay overnight, so I'm not sure what plans are. Some people are just staying up all night on the sidewalk.. but I fear burnout. Kids need sleep. You're likely to find people there, just look for their signs, 24/7.

Every night at 6pm they have a General Assembly open to all. I've only been peripherally involved -- helping with supplies when I can, & communications, but not often there in body. Strongly there in spirit. Have been wanting to attend more of their assemblies but have had other commitments.

They need all the support & encouragement & inspiration they can get. You can also follow on facebook, I think even if you don't have a FB account: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Occupy-Albuquerque-Official-Burque/131057133662928

He has already begun the whitewash. He offended a lot of factions last night and the voters of Boston are not so keen on statements like: "we will not tolerate civil disobedience".

We stand proud of a long history of civil disobedience and outright revolution, underlined with the Tea Party and a war for independence.

very little "damage" had been done...until the BPD went in and trampled bushes and flower beds. This is on the BPD, not Occupy Boston.

I'm on my way down to get facts...I am hearing, (local news) some Vet's for Peace were "beaten down to the ground". No verification of this at this time. 100 reported arrested.

I'm out the door in about 5 minutes...will get report in as soon as I can.

Peace

AND IN BOSTON! That city is overrun by colleges, there should be a massive walkout scheduled across the board. Those are some of the most expensive schools in the country. This is terrible to hear but I do think it will help in the long run. STAY STRONG! Continue the fight.

Looks like it's big time for the 99% to start voting in some politicians that will represent us for a change.

76. Boston cops suck . . .
they have no civilian oversight and a lot of them are macho a$$holes - the ones who aren't just keep their mouths shut while the bully boys prevail. They usually aggravate any situation they become involved in. It's like they cruise around the city with "Bad Boys" playing real loud on their CD players and crime movies playing on a loop in their heads. Sick culture. I'm sure they enjoyed this little foray immensely.

Doesn't anyone in Homeland Security remember what happened after Kent State? Someone should lend them a few news reels...

And one other thing - the stupidity of this Administration knowing no bounds - last week was the week that the Feds decided to get "tough" on medical marijuana her in California?!?

Are you fucking kidding me?

If they wanted to see an entire state take to the streets, this is the perfect way to toss some gasoline on the fire.

Even the City Councils, and the mayors of cities in Humboldt, Lake and Mendocino California are happy about medical marijuana - the clinics and their taxes are PAYING FOR THE budgets used to employ public servants! The frigging Federal Government is too busy paying for Wall Street bonuses and for its un-ending, non-winnable wars to pay for state and county and city workers!

103. The topic was "shutting the whole city down". It would accomplish
nothing positive and just cause great inconvenience for the average working stiff.

Like it or not, that's the way it is.

106. The more the police will push peaceful protestors around, the more...
the peaceful protestors (and the 99%) win.

That is the whole point. Shutting down the whole city would not do anything good to prove that point. The peaceful protestors will be back. Again, again and again. Nobody's going to be able to silence them. Not the police (99 percenters themselves...), nor the mayor (who made a BIG 'mistake').

The Whole World Is Watching.

85. Next time we should only send a quarter of our people out.
When the cops surround them, the rest of our people should surround them. It would be a good visual display of relative numbers and symbolic power, especially since our people would be nonviolent. It would also communicate to individual cops that they are on the wrong side.
