Okla. Sen. Coburn has prostate cancer surgery
Source: The Associated Press via HuffPo

TULSA, Okla. — A spokesman says U.S. Sen. Tom Coburn of Oklahoma is expected to make a full recovery after undergoing surgery for prostate cancer in Tulsa.

Coburn had been treated previously for two other forms of cancer – malignant melanoma in 1975 and colon cancer in 2003, the year before he ran for the U.S. Senate.

The Republican from Muskogee is 63 years old. Last year he won a second six-year term to the Senate and has pledged not to run again in 2016.

2. Bummer!
Lucky bastard has health insurance. Maybe he could reflect, just once, on the 47,000,000 without. What a sad state this country is in.

3. Mr. Coburn is famous for this
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Coburn#.22Schindler.27s_List.22_TV_broadcast

From Wikipedia:

"As a congressman in 1997, Coburn protested NBC's plan to air the R-rated Academy Award-winning Holocaust drama Schindler's List during prime time. Coburn stated that, in airing the movie without editing it for television, TV had been taken "to an all-time low, with full-frontal nudity, violence and profanity. He also said the TV broadcast should outrage parents and decent-minded individuals everywhere. Coburn described the airing of Schindler's List on television as "irresponsible sexual behavior. I cringe when I realize that there were children all across this nation watching this program."

We look forward to Mr. Coburn's healing. And to his greater self-awareness that he is a tool and need to resign from public office immediately.

5. Good thing he has socialized medicine
He's got a better chance at recovery than most of us would because of his access to health care.

6. Obama says Coburn is his good friend...
So he has that to cling to, their deep and abiding friendship....Coburn is homophobic and opposed to equal rights.

8. That's what pols say about each other
They always say that, hard to believe there's anyone out there gullible to believe it. I remember when Hillary referred to Lee Atwater as her "good friend". You s'pose she meant it? Pointing and laughing.....

11. No, I wish that everybody had insurance. But I wouldn't wish not having health insurance on anyone
including him. That can be tantamount to a death sentence. Liberalism is not about wishing ill on anyone including those we disagree with.

14. I'm not wishing ill, just wishing reality.
If he was forced to sell his home and file medical bankruptcy in order to survive, he would appreciate what average people are going through.

17. I would wish it on those who would deprive others of it
This guy needs to live (and die) just like those who he has sentenced to death by taking voting on behalf of Big Insurance.

20. I know a lot of people with insurance who still can't afford to get care
thanks to the trend of more out of pocket expenses. Access to insurance is useless, we need access to care like people in civilized countries have.

At the very least, I hope he has to fight with his insurance company to get his claims paid.

15. Let me get this straight ...
... he cut out a living organism, the cancer, just to make him feel better. He then let the cancer die. My sympathies are with the poor cancer which never had a choice.
