Obama jobs council offers up proposals appealing to GOP
Source: The Hill

President Obama’s Jobs Council offered the White House a detailed menu of job creating recommendations, many of which should appeal to congressional Republicans as well as Democrats.

The council, led by GE head Jeffrey Immelt, a Republican, late Monday released its interim report focusing on medium-term reforms that could boost employment. Among its recommendations are easing environmental and health regulations and reducing taxes on investors.

The group calls the political environment challenging and says it has stayed away from proposals that would be costly.

“As a non-partisan group, we’ve also steered clear of the fights that invariably swirl around the nation’s current economic strains,” the report states.

4. Gee the jobs council lead by a very wealthy man who
is creating some jobs for the Chinese too... Boy what could possibly be off about this direction for creating jobs in America? Possibly not addressing the current ecomomic strains by company's that GE head Jeffrey Immelt heads not paying their fair share. No better not talk about that...

Better to talk about Keystone pipeline....

" The group focuses on five areas: improving infrastructure and energy development; helping high-growth firms; attracting foreign direct investment; simplifying regulations; and improving education and immigration to increase job skills.

The council performs a politically delicate dance in the energy section, calling for “balance” on projects like the controversial Keystone pipeline, which industry wants to see built to carry oil sands from Canada to refineries in Texas."

10. Energy supply is the root of our economic problems
It's messed up how distracted people are. No politician will say it. If we had unlimited energy we'd be in an economic boom, but as it is now, we need to stay away from proposals that are "costly" or would pose an "economic strain". These phrases are code for energy consumption. That's the big picture.

24. more than a load of crap
these proposals could do us in. These corporations are mostly global, they could give a fek what happens to this country as long as they made even more record breaking profits off of our misery. I'm getting so tired of this sociopathic shite!!!

I have no degree in economics, but it seems to me that by expiring little boot's obscene tax cuts, initiating a federal massive jobs bill to rebuild our deteriorating infrastructure, cut corporate loopholes while giving corporations tax incentives to hire americans and tax incentives for innovation, especially energy, and give small american businesses tax cuts and more loans. If you do even more deregulation, these arseholes are going to have a field day; after all, little boots already weakened regulation. Also regulation while protecting us, makes more regulatory jobs.

So simple, why are they making it so hard? Probably because they have to keep the truly greedy areseholes in the power game.

29. No doubt.
Among other interests,

The group of private-sector business leaders advising President Obama on how to create jobs and grow the economy is full of deep-pocket Democratic donors and high-profile financiers of Obama’s re-election campaign, a review of Federal Election Commission data shows.

I remember once it was "anyone but bush". His administration besides being some of the best fabricators, were also the best "shoppers' gone wild with the treasury. We cried, we breathed a sigh of relief, now let's undo the damage, let's get us out of this mess. Who knew?

19.  easing environmental and health regulations
Oh no.... not too costly... if you're only talking money.

But as far a quality of life.... way too costly.

And actually, after the environmental clean ups and the health care costs that coulda been prevented.... it does cost a huge wad of dough.

Not much thinking going on here, is there?

31. I heard one proposed...
that would give tax-breaks for increased small-business lending. That's not in Immelt's proposals but I think I could support that...narrowly.

At this point, I'm in favor of anything that compels or encourages banks to lend money domestically to businesses that will create jobs in America. I know that it's unpalatable to think of giving yet more free handouts to the banks but short of seizing and redistributing their wealth, I don't see another way to get them off the loot-pile.
