WSJSolar-panel maker Solyndra LLC said Chief Executive Brian Harrison has resigned and asked a federal court to allow a bankruptcy expert to take over its reorganization after the executive's departure.
In a court filing, the company asked to name R. Todd Neilson of California-based Berkeley Research Group LLC as the company's chief restructuring officer as the bankruptcy proceeds. Mr. Neilson previously represented boxer Mike Tyson and rap-music label Death Row Records Inc. in similar cases, the filing said.
Mr. Neilson didn't respond to requests for comment. He would succeed Mr. Harrison, who left the company Friday, according to the court filing. Mr. Neilson will assist in the company's efforts to sell its assets and otherwise wind down operations, the filing said.
The Justice Department last month asked the court to wrest control from the company's management and appoint a trustee, an unusual move that signaled a lack of confidence in its leadership. Mr. Harrison and others had refused to answer questions about the company's finances, the department said at the time.
