Rick Perry Refuses To Disavow Robert Jeffress, Stands By Wife's 'Brutalized' Remarks
Source: Huffington Post

Texas Gov. Rick Perry blitzed the morning shows ahead of a jobs speech Friday in Pittsburgh, Pa., trying to deflect attention away from his falling poll numbers and association with Dallas pastor Robert Jeffress and toward his jobs plan.

In multiple appearances, Perry said that polls go "up and down," and that he remained unconcerned about them since it was early the race. His numbers have fallen precipitously since he announced he would run for president in mid-August, entering in first place in national polls.

He said the controversy surrounding Rev. Robert Jeffress, who endorsed and introduced him at the Values Voters Summit in Washington last Friday and called Mormonism "a cult" was a "distraction." Perry repeated that he did not agree with the comments made about the religion of Republican frontrunner Mitt Romney but refused to disavow Jeffress.

"But if we're going to spend the time in the campaign defending what someone who has endorsed us has said out there in the public, President Obama is going to spend a lot of time talking about defending people who are saying things about him that he probably doesn't stand by," he said on "Today," then changing the subject to his jobs plan.

1. It's Funny
I have started feeling differently about Perry since he was savaged by his own apparently for making humane comments about illegal aliens. And of course the fact that he's less likely to be the nominee.

I don't really place too much stock in "candidate X is associated with person Y who has the following views." It's no more relevant in this case than it was for Obama.

2. Remember Rev. Wright?
The media will whip up the people in order to hound a politician about religious affiliations regardless whether that hounding is deserved or not.

It may be a distraction, but it won't go away until it's addressed.

3. Okay Perry you stupid ass, I got money on you to win this nomination
So you better work on that stupid fucking smirk for starters. Next, I need you to keep your mouth shut as much as possible. Let your handlers and spokesman do the work.

You just stand there with your helmet head and wave once in a while...Got it?

7. Pretty sad
I noticed she did not have much to say when he and his campaign played much dirtier tricks on opponents in the Texas Governor's race. I guess it is much easier to laugh at the fall guy than to be the fall guy.

8. Why should he apologize?
His type of Christianity truly believes that the religion of Mormonism is a cult. Thats what they teach. You have the Seven Day Adventist and other religions teaching that their religion is GOD'S true religion and the rest God does not acknowledge. That the freedom of worship as long as it is not phsyically hurting, destorying, or killing anyone.

The Party of Greed ain't nothing but hypocrites.

9. The last I heard - Perry
is a member of Tarrytown United Methodist Church, which is not an "evangelistic" congregation. When he first ran for governor, he had to defend his meager charitable contributions claimed on his tax return. Perry is a phony. He doesn't "believe" anything of substance and he has no ethics. He only follows the money. Anita Perry has backed Safe Place and has been a good advocate. However, I'm not sure she doesn't do this because she needs a cause as "First Lady" of Texas and this is a "safe one."

So, I think he is a greedy hypocrite.
