No charges over De Anza players' alleged gang rape (CA, accused of raping a 17-yo)

(10-14) 12:45 PDT SUNNYVALE -- No criminal charges will be filed against a group of former De Anza College baseball players accused of gang raping a 17-year-old girl at a San Jose house party in March 2007, prosecutors said today.

"The defendants' behavior was not acceptable conduct in a civilized society," said Santa Clara County District Attorney Jeff Rosen. "However, the district attorney's office cannot prove that a crime occurred on March 3, 2007, and therefore will not file criminal charges."

The alleged victim was Jessica Gonzalez, now 22, who has chosen to step forward to reveal her identity. Gonzalez said that as many as nine men sexually assaulted her at the party at a San Jose-area house.

Gonzalez said several members of the De Anza baseball team took turns raping her while she was unconscious as a result of being intoxicated. Three young women who were members of the De Anza women's soccer team said they had rescued her from the attack.

2. So in SC County, "Boys WIll Be Boys"
How disgusting.

I suppose the parents of these rapists had a pile of dough and some people they could influence to stop this crime from being prosecuted. So what else is new.

3. A responsible prosecutor only brings charges if he/she believes they can get a conviction
As Tom Cruise's character said in A Few Good Men, "it doesn't matter what I believe, it only matters what I can prove".

6. Only when they disapprove of prosecuting. If they want, they can do a hell of a lot more

Our "responsible" prosecutors frame people for drug crimes on a regular basis, all over the country.

As long as we have to have corrupt cops, why couldn't they have scattered enough cocaine around to get felony convictions all around?
