Silvio Berlusconi escapes indictment in media tax fraud case

A Milan court has refused to indict Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi in a tax fraud case involving his Mediaset media company. The court, however, indicted Berlusconi's eldest son, Pier Silvio Berlusconi, the Mediaset chairman, Fedele Confalonieri, and nine other defendants. The trial is set for 22 December.

The so-called Mediatrade case alleges fraud in the purchase of film rights by Mediaset. Berlusconi has always denied wrongdoing, and magistrate Maria Vicidomini, in throwing out the case, ruled that he had not committed the offence.

Berlusconi's lawyer, Niccolo Ghedini, praised the decision. "Berlusconi had nothing to do with it," he said.

The decision lightens the premier's legal burden, but he still faces three active trials in Milan on charges including corruption, tax fraud and accusations that he paid for sex with an underage Moroccan teenager.

1. The Stranger - "Interesting the number of posts there are so fearful of a simple observation".
Dear Black Block,

What you have just done was attempted to silence the world beginning with me and it didn't work. Then what you did was go on to commit an act of terrorism against the entire world. Unlike you assholes I have no reason to run. There is a heavy price to be paid here. Worst of luck to you in any and all future endeavors.

Sincerely,

Vaffanculo
