(Elizabeth Warren) Candidate’s Fighting Words Draw G.O.P.’s Fire
Source: NYT

In her nascent Senate campaign, Elizabeth Warren has captivated the national Democratic base with her scrappy populist rhetoric, most notably in a viral YouTube video in which she exhorts wealthy business owners to pay their fair share of taxes on the grounds that “there is nobody in this country who got rich on his own.”

Those fighting words have unquestionably helped Ms. Warren, a Harvard law professor who set up the Obama administration’s new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, become a formidable candidate in a matter of weeks. She raised $3.15 million in August and September, much of it from national liberal groups that have criticized President Obama for conceding too much to Republicans in Congress. That beat Senator Scott P. Brown’s third-quarter take of $1.55 million, although Mr. Brown, a Republican, has more than $10 million in his war chest.

Whether Ms. Warren’s combativeness will appeal beyond her party’s liberal base and resonate with the many independent voters whose support she needs to defeat Mr. Brown remains to be seen. Republicans are already seeking to use it against her and are accusing her of class warfare, in what will surely be a dominant theme of the race.

In a new Web video, the Massachusetts Republican Party calls Ms. Warren “too divisive,” with clips of her discussing how she has “thrown rocks at people that I think are in the wrong.”

3. The Republican Party has NO STANDING to accuse others of
being divisive. The Republican Party has gained its
power on Divisive Politics.

How laughable, the Pot calling the kettle black.

Anytime a "srong Democrat" pops up, we hear the divisive
allegation.

According to their plan, the Democrats should be meek
timid and roll over--in other words permit the Republicans
to be as divisive as they wish. Let Republicans win.

Too many Democrats of Centrist types agree with the Republicans
and this is why we are in such a mess.

Note even the NYT comment---shakily wonder if it will
appeal beyond the Liberal Base. Why are Republicans
so combative?? They know this appeals to public.

Cm'on We need Democrats who are willing to stand
for something. Democrats can no longer continue to
enable Republicans to take over everything because
the Democratic Party is so timid.

24. "Ditto" makes me twitch.
If you don't know why, well, good for you (seriously!), but you might want to look into it, and how it has been appropriated.

Ms. Warren has been crapped on so bad by those who oppose her..
Well all you have to do is look at who these Folks are and then it becomes clear why they do..
They are why People are in the streets today.....
Those Folks put this Country into a Ditch.. And now that the Country tries to recover..
They want to be in the drivers seat again and drive full speed..

Thank God we have people like Ms. Warren..

6. "Divisive?" From the part that villianizes teachers, laborers, journalists, college professors,
scientists, immigrants, gay people, women, Muslims, liberals, progressives, communists, environmentalists, trial lawyers, welfare recipients, Social Security beneficiaries, OWS protestors, and, I'm pretty sure, puppies?

This little meme needs to be called out immediately. Republicans have spent every second since 2010 (and before) instituting legislation to destroy unions and take pensions from teachers and cops and drug test the poor (who passed, thank you, Gov. Scott).

And THEY'RE concerned about "class warfare?"

If you want to talk divisive, head up to Wisconsin or over to New Jersey.

We know she's smart!

We know she scares the living crap out of the GOP!!!

WE know what she stands for, but the voters will have no idea unless her message is delivered to them somehow. That's how it works. Sadly.

32. Candidates need money but how much?
Does a candidate nee as much as their rival in order to win?

A certain amount of money gets the message out.
More money gets more messages out.
How much is enough?

Elizabeth Warren has gotten exposure by setting up the protection group.
How much money does that equate to?

Elizabeth Warren is so liked by liberals and is a general topic of conversation.
Word of mouth advertising.
How much is that worth.

What I meant was that she is a shining light in a dark storm - that's energy - that's power.
She has people talking - that's advertising.
She has people who really want her in office (including President Obama)
With all that, she's going to get contributions even if she makes little effort on her part.

Finally, I wanted to send a message of support and to say that there are people out here
that she doesn't even know and may never meet who think that she is a bright light in
a dark storm of lies and deceit and corruption.

When you take a post so literally you miss the underlying message.

In the future, I'll try to be more clear with my message.

To you, I would say, try to find one thing to smile about today!!!
