Rick Perry Answers Questions On Obama Birth Certificate (no definitive answer = doubt)
Edited on Mon Oct-24-11 05:40 AM by onehandle
Source: Huffington Post

Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry walked a fine line when presented with questions about President Barack Obama's birth certificate -- which was released by the White House earlier this year -- in a new interview with Parade magazine published online.

When asked if he believes the president was born in the United States, the Texas governor said, "I have no reason to think otherwise." Pressed on the nature of his answer, Perry added, "Well, I don't have a definitive answer, because he's never seen my birth certificate."

Perry said that Trump doesn't believe the document released by the White House is "real." Asked if he agrees with the sentiment, the Lone Star State Republican said, "I don't have any idea. It doesn't matter. He's the president of the United States. He's elected. It's a distractive issue."

Leading up to the release of Obama's "long form" birth certificate in April, Trump captured headlines and sparked controversy with his persistence in raising doubt over the president's birthplace.

"In fact, I will go so far as to 'claim' that it's probably true that my opponent may not be, um, beating his wife and stuff like that. Smirk."

5. It is the M$M that keeps this crap going on and on and on
Why did this question even come up? Rick "Parry" apparently didn't bring it up and the reporter obviously insisted on pressing the issue. :eyes:

6. CBC; Texas Gov. Perry doubts Obama's birth certificate
Texas Gov. Rick Perry, struggling to claw back to prominence in the race for the U.S. Republican Party's presidential nomination, is renewing the so-called birther issue, suggesting in a new interview he harbours doubts that President Barack Obama was born in the United States.

"I don't have any idea," Perry told Parade magazine when asked whether he believes the authenticity of the long-form birth certificate Obama released in April, largely to silence real estate mogul Donald Trump's claims that the president wasn't born in the U.S. "I had dinner with Donald Trump the other night," Perry said. "He doesn't think it's real." When the Parade interviewer reminded Perry that he's actually seen Obama's birth certificate, Perry replied: "I don't know. Have I?"

Perry's sympathies for the birther cause have emerged at a dangerous time. The collection of right-wing conspiracy theorists who claim Obama is unlawfully holding office because he wasn't born stateside have recently begun flinging accusations at two high profile, non-white Republican politicians.

The hysterics
over Senator Marco Rubio of Florida, the son of Cuban immigrants who's widely touted as a possible vice-presidential nominee, and Bobby Jindal, the governor of Louisiana, suggest the cause isn't fuelled by partisan politics, but something more sinister.

If there were still any doubt that Perry is willing to say anything to pander to the lowest common denominator this should settle that issue.

11. Which media A-Hole stirred that pot again?
We haven't heard much about this since President Obama released his long form birth certificate.

Talk about beating a dead horse with a dull stick.

You'd think a journalist would be ashamed to bring it up again.

Does Murdoch own Parade?
