Quebec battling major measles outbreak

Quebec is facing a major measles outbreak, according to the province’s public health department.

There are now more than 750 reported cases, most of them in the Mauricie region and central Quebec.

The Americas were declared 'measle-free' in 2002, and in Quebec, there are usually only one or two cases a year.

(Dr. Horacio) Arruda (of Quebec’s public health department) said part of the problem with this outbreak is not enough people have been properly vaccinated.

1. I know of one mom, three little kids, who refuses vaccines for her kids.
Then again, she is really unbalanced herself. Those kids will be lucky if they can have a normal life.

2. The real danger of measles is if the mother is pregnant when her
children get them her fetus can be severely developmentally disabled. This used to be one of the causes of mental retardation.

4. That sentence sounded confusing, so when kids get measles
the disease spreads to the pregnant mother? And would a vaccinated mother be better off?

5. here in France my daughter got MMR vaccine when she was 2
I cant imagine that it is much different in Quebec, just lots of parents not vaccinating....
