Workers still missing after Kan. grain accident

ATCHISON, Kan. (AP) - Three people remained unaccounted for and two others were hospitalized in critical condition Sunday following an explosion at a grain elevator in northeast Kansas that killed three workers, authorities said.

Atchison City Manager Trey Cocking said officials with Bartlett Grain Co. weighed whether it is safe to send rescue teams into the facility, which sustained significant damage in the Saturday night explosion seen as far as Missouri.

"It's a fairly dangerous situation. We don't feel comfortable putting fire crews in," Cocking said.

Among the missing was one worker from the elevator company and two state grain inspectors.
