Planned Parenthood Rejects Cain Claim Abortion Clinics Are Aimed at Black 'Genocide'
Edited on Sun Oct-30-11 07:27 PM by Omaha Steve
Source: Fox

Planned Parenthood is fighting back against a claim by Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain that abortion clinics are put in African American communities as part of a "planned genocide" to kill black babies before they are born.

Cain stood by his statement when questioned about it on Sunday, saying he would direct people to the words of Margaret Sanger, the late founder of Planned Parenthood and a supporter of eugenics.

"Seventy-five percent of those facilities were built in the black community. In Margaret Sanger's own words, she didn't use the word 'genocide,' but she did talk about preventing the increasing number of poor blacks in this country by preventing black babies from being born," Cain told CBS' "Face the Nation."

"It is simply unacceptable for those who oppose legal abortion to use inflammatory and divisive language based on race to push an ideological agenda," Veronica Byrd, director of African American media for the Planned Parenthood Action Fund said in a statement responding to Cain's remarks.

1. so then,
according to Cain, black women who go into clinics to get abortions are trying to wipe out the black race.

Hermann Cain: goofiest black conservative opponent of abortion since Alan Keyes.

5. Moron who doesn't understand positive eugenics.
Yes, Sanger was in favor of eugenics, but it was positive, self-determining, eugenics, in a time before birth control came in pill form.

Of course, most people tend to be mis-educated about eugenics, so there's that problem.

7. "Positive Eurgenics" is an oxymoron.
Eugenics is, by definition, coercive and authoritarian. Many of us in the Autism community are very nervous about researchers trying to develop natal tests for autism. When that happens parents will start being pressured to abort positive-testing fetuses so that they won't be a "burden on society". Just wait, that is what will happen.

9. I disagree.
Many NT parents might freak out about a ASD child.

I, however, would consider it a genetic "boost". It's not a bug, it's a feature.

I have said this a lot of times. Only a nut would believe this. Cain is a nut.

8. I think this reflects Cain's pro-life stance as well as trying to create a stir.
Have a look at him trying to explain his pro-life stance on Fox News:

11. Planned Parenthood Clinics Are Placed In Poor Neighborhoods Not Served
Planned Parenthood clinics are placed in poor neighborhoods to provide women's health and reproductive services that the regular medical clinics don't provide.

Comparisons between Planned Parenthood's activities and how the Radical Right deals with the impoverished and disadvantaged's access to health care isn't particularly flattering to the Radical Right. The Radical Right has voted to cut funding for health care for the indigents year after year after year. Their latest assault on poor women's health WILL raise mortality rates for women at risk from cervical or breast cancer.

Radical Right extremists, particularly those that tout or fund so-called Crisis Pregnancy clinics have fought any proposals to require such Crisis Pregnancy clinics to have qualified medical personnel on-site or regulations to force them to provide medical services.

Planned Parenthood often provides the ONLY medical care all too many impoverished women and their babies are likely to get.

Herman Cain's and Faux Noise Propaganda's claims should be treated with the contemptuous disgust they deserve.
