Iowa radio host accuses Herman Cain of 'inappropriate' remarks
Source: Politico

In a cryptic comment made at National Journal’s Election 2012 Preview event Tuesday, Mark Block, Herman Cain’s campaign manager, made reference to an incident involving Cain and a receptionist for a radio talk show host.

Asked by panel moderator Beth Reinhard whether he could guarantee that there’s not more information forthcoming about his past, Block began his answer with a blanket denial, followed by what seemed to be a description of an unreported recent incident involving Cain.

“Mr. Cain has never sexually harassed anybody. Period. End of story,” he said. “As the hours go by, it’s interesting that we even hear from a radio talk show host of Iowa that a receptionist thought that Mr. Cain’s comments were inappropriate.”

POLITICO has learned that the incident involved a staffer for Steve Deace, an influential conservative talk radio host who hosts a nationally syndicated show in Des Moines. And Deace says he did take offense.

Interesting. If I'm keeping track correctly, this would be the FOURTH woman to now accuse Mr. Cain of "inappropriate comments".

And in this particular case, Steve Deade (a conservative radio host) is backing it up, it seems.

It just gets wackier by the day! I'm foreseeing a Jimmy Swaggart moment in Mr. Cain's not-too-far-off future.

1. Welcome to DU and yes it does seem to be getting wackier with respect
to Herman Cain's sexual troubles.

3. Thanks for the welcome.
I've been here for awhile, but this is my first posting.

This sad, pathetic saga of the "Cain Train" is becoming curiouser and curiouser by the day. I wonder if more women are forthcoming? Is there a pattern of behavior of Mr. Cain's in this regard?

The Freepers are going nuts, which is one positive element. They're frantically circling the wagons, but I get the feeling that if Mr. Cain continues to respond in his inept fashion, his campaign is going to flameout in the next few months.

I guess some of the Freepers will flock to Newt Gingrich then. For them, it's anybody but Romney. Or perhaps, they'll hold their noses and go with Governor Perry, but they won't be happy about it.

I love watching a good old fashioned, conservative circular firing squad.

Who doesn't?!

11. Thanks.
I've been here awhile, but just never posted until now.

I confess to a certain schadenfreude over this whole "Cain Train" derailment.

2. Too bad he didn't get the Republican nomination first
Imagine if he did, and this came out next October? What would happen if he dropped out at that point?

4. That would've been perfect.
Combine these forthcoming stories with his colossal ineptitude, and Mr. Cain would be lucky to win his home state of Georgia.

It'd be one of the biggest electoral blowouts in recent history.

7. Yup
But what happens if it's next October and he pulls out, two weeks before the election? Does his VP pick become the top man on the Republican ticket, or is it the next runner up?

9. Good question.
I really don't know how that would work.

Most likely, it would nonetheless end up as an utter debacle for the GOP.

12. It wouldn't matter. the gopers would just change the rules
because we all know that they think they are above anything, oust Cain and put someone else in his place.

6. The link does not give any information about what the 'remarks' were.
Why wouldn't this be in the OP given the headline?

8. If the accusations against Anthony Weiner were true, then these probably
are too.

It takes a lot to stand up and blacken the name of a prominent person if your accusations are not true. In the case of DSK (the French politician if you remember), the story the maid told was not true. Nonetheless, DSK, true to certain men of his age group may have harassed women -- not raped, but harassed them.

Seen that a lot.

13. Indeed.
The way that Mr. Cain has (thus far) handled this imbroglio clearly shows just how much of a neophyte and political dilletante he is.

Hopefully, if there's any GOP voters left with any brain cells (a minority, to be sure) still functioning, they're coming to the realization that Mr. Cain isn't exactly ready for prime time.

And, a little off-topic, but for you, and everyone else following the latest EU debacle, it seems the Greek referendum on acceptance of the ESFS bailout will be held on December 4th and 5th, according to Jean-Claude Juncker, official leader of the Eurozone group. Chancellor Merkel and President Sarkozy seem most displeased at this turn of affairs.

Heh.

10. If they want to flatly declare Cain's innocence ...
They need to have the gag orders lifted on the two women he settled with. Let them say he never harassed them. Otherwise, this guy is calling those women (who Cain settled with) liars and they can't answer to it.

16. Very telling that Cain is even MORE popular with the GOP
since this all started to trickle out. I, myself, am loving every moment! I'd love to see this guy debate Obama -- Obama with his facts and solutions and Cain with his "well, I'd surround myself with the people to figure that one out".
