City prepares to evict Occupy LA protesters from City Hall
Source: ABC News

The mayor's office says it will have an announcement Friday about the future of the Occupy Los Angeles encampment at City Hall.

Deputy Mayor Matt Szabo says the statement will give a timeline and date for the protestors to end the occupation. It's likely to come next week.

. . . .

The city has been negotiating with protesters but Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa says it's gone on too long, and it's time for the city to get the tents and protesters off the lawn.

"We're making every effort to make sure that the homeless are provided for, that people who don't have an alternative do, but for the rest, all we're saying is time is running out," said Villaraigosa.

2. So some protesters are representing all protesters?
How can you negotiate with a movement? The 1st amendment does not specify timelines, hours, identifiers or curfews. For argument's sake, what if 100 current protesters were replaced with 100 different protesters. How could these negotiations apply? Alice?

his bad-faith negotiating tactics, i.e., rescinding an offer already made and they saying to the media that he has been negotiating.

I will do everything I can to see that his term as Mayor is the final chapter of his political career.

7. Again, this is simply a bad and wrong argument.
Restrictions on the time, place, and manner of both free speech and free assembly have consistently been found to be constitutional. That's why you can't claim that, say, the second amendment confers an unlimited right to own a machine gun.

10. "...been found to be constitutional."
By whom?

The Amendment is perfectly clear.

The "been found to be" not so much.

Morale at the camp remains quite high and I found a new seriousness at the GA, in start contrast to the mood that has prevailed there over the past few sessions. I will write about the GA and the mood among Occupiers at more length tomorrow. For now, I will simply say that Occupy Los Angeles does not plan to "go gently into that good night."
