Coloradans losing pace on income growth
Coloradans, on average, make more money than most Americans, but incomes here are growing more slowly than in most states.

Colorado's per capita personal income of $34,283 ranks eighth nationally, according to a U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis report released this week. But the state's per capita personal income grew just 1.7 percent in 2003. That's slower than 45 states and the District of Columbia.

Nationally, per capita personal income grew 2.3 percent growth in 2003. Personal income includes earnings from work, interest on investments and any other income.

Total personal income grew 2.8 percent in Colorado, where the population grew 1.1 percent. Nationally, total personal income rose by 3.4 percent and the population increased by 1 percent.
