CNN: Interview with abused Iraqi prisoner (attacked by dogs)
Edited on Tue May-04-04 02:07 PM by Barrett808
Our Ben Wedeman spoke with two of the Iraqi men who were held prisoner by U.S. troops at that prison near Baghdad.

Let's listen.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

BEN WEDEMAN, CNN CORRESPONDENT (voice-over): "That's me," says Haidar Sabar Ali, "Prisoner 13077 at Abu Ghraib Prison."

Coalition sources confirmed to CNN Prisoner #13077 was one of the seven naked men in these photographs.

"They cut off our clothing with knives," he recalls. "We're Muslims. We don't go naked in front of our families, but there we were, naked in front of American women and men."

...

"There are other pictures," he says. "American intelligence has them -- of dogs attacking us."

2. "Hazing" is not hazing if it's involuntary--it's assault.
If a bunch of guys want to get together and get naked and stick things up each other's asses, that's fine with me. It's fine if they call it "hazing." But if an armed prison guard does these things to prisoners who are restrained--it is assault and rape.

3. That black guy that called into cspan the other day was partially right.
In speaking of those few soldiers that did that to the Iraqis "With some people it's in their nature to behave that way. I remember they used to treat black people like that!" We all remember how they treated the peaceful protestors back in the 60s right? They sic'd dogs on men, women and children. I guess history does repeat itself when it comes to America.

7. GREAT TRADITION OF QUAINT FOLK CUSTOMS IN AMERIKA
This is prom night prank played out in Indiana

Lynching 1930

A mob of 10,000 whites took sledgehammers to the county jailhouse doors to get at these two young blacks accused of raping a white girl; the girl’s uncle saved the life of a third by proclaiming the man’s innocence. Although this was Marion, Ind., most of the nearly 5,000 lynchings documented between Reconstruction and the late 1960s were perpetrated in the South. (Hangings, beatings and mutilations were called the sentence of “Judge Lynch.”) Some lynching photos were made into postcards designed to boost white supremacy, but the tortured bodies and grotesquely happy crowds ended up revolting as many as they scared. Today the images remind us that we have not come as far from barbarity as we’d like to think.

This photo was taken 15 years before I was born. This was typical behavior into the late 60's in certain enlightened areas of AMERIKA.

There were 5,000 of these quaint folk celebrations, with Black men being the primary recipients of the crowds adoration.

9. Attacked by dogs... well
The Fedayeen ate dogs for part of their training. I can't figure out which is worse, which is absolutely damning.
